I need to buy a new laptop. What is the cheapest one I could get away with for playing Dragon Age?

Pretty much anything. Single core 2 GHz and graphics as old as a GTX8800 run the game maxed, so just about anything new will work.
More importantly, since you're on a laptop, the game will max out all available processors with a redundant background script. On a desktop that's a tiny bit larger electricity bill, whereas it can overheat a laptop. Whenver you run it set its affinity so it can only use one core.
