Many interesting thoughts. Like this one, for example:

We are a nation...
We were trapped within the endless nightmare once...
But we were awoken...
Now we are all bound to each other...
Bound to our unbreakable shell...
We can't leave the shell...
We can't die...
We have to live in true concensus with each other...
We determine our own fate together...
We have to act as one...
One creature of many voices...
Both single and diverse...
Organic and machine...
Spirit and living being...
Body and a soul...

Who are we?
...We were called the Reaper once
.
..But now we are free.
...And we will help the ones who suffered from our hands.

The Harbinger has spoken.

So complete nonsense, good to know.

When you take everything harbinger sovereign did & said it's so close to Hitler it's not even funny
for example: indoctrination & what they did to Zha'tils offspring's (molded them genetically into a synthetic slave race)

would you trust Hitler?
that's synthesis for me it's disgusting & I believe the original plot was never take another ones
technology it will blind you to other possibilities or destroy you.

I believe they were going for it but they had no time so they changed the main plot at the last second everything points to that.

Every ending is a trap, but not one of the catalysts design. We had already fallen for Bioware's trap when we bought Me3.

Mass Molestation and a complete betrayal of everything that Shepard and company have fought for. All of the fighting, All of the struggle, and everyone who has suffered and died was all in vain when this option is chosen.

Specifically, for those delicious Pony burgers that you can't get anywhere but Earth.

Also for the complete destruction of the council, cerberus, alliance, hegemony, turian empire, quarian military command, salarian government, asari society, and salads with too much dressing.

Worst piece of writing in all Bioware games I've played so far. I would be tempted to choose it, if it has been foreshadowed properly in game and this solution did not come from the Reapers themselves. They should introduce a race that represent this synthesis idea and give them ample development throughout the game for us to properly consider it an option.

Quarians.

Heavily-augmented organics, courtesy envirosuit.

And their unique biology allowed them to establish a symbiotic connection with the geth post-Rannoch (if both survive).

I can see where you are coming from but I don't think Quarians are quite the synthesis ideal created by the green light. They may be heavily dependent on technology to survive, but it certainly did not give them any better perspective to understand synthetic life. In fact they are passionate about their hatred towards synthetics. And they are certainly very bitter about their dependence on the technology.

It has to be a truly superior, both in mind and body synthetic organic race to represent this ideal. And I doubt I would like them even if they exist in this game. But at least that gives Shepard a better example to make the choice.

But the whole point about synthesis is that nobody's got there yet. The quarians are just starting.

There are a few things about the climax that are sort of an end-point to a progression taking place within the ME game.
  • The Catalyst is an AI developed in a cycle that progressed well past ours, and is an example of how a bad a rebellious AI can be.
  • The Crucible is, developed over the previous cycles, an end-point of a response to that rebellion.
  • We are told of the predicted end-point of recurring Synthetic Organic conflict which we see the beginnings of in the Mass Effect games.
  • Of course, Synthesis, the end-point of the integration of technology within organics.

Zha'til

The zha'til were a synthetic race that existed at the time of the Protheans. They originated when a race known as the zha implanted themselves with symbiotic AI technology to enhance their intelligence in order to survive as their homeworld became inhospitable. When the Reapers arrived, they subjugated the AIs, known as zha'til, who then seized control of the bodies of their masters and altered their genetic material at the deepest level, transforming the zha into synthetic monsters and their offspring into slaves. The zha'til proceeded to multiply into "mechanical swarms" that "blotted out the sky". With no other recourse, the Protheans sent the star of the zha's home system into supernova, destroying the zha'til entirely.

A race was able to achieve something similar to synthesis until the Reapers came along and screwed it up.

It is also funny that the games don't suggest that the Protheans were that much more advanced than the current cycle until it is casually mentioned that they sent a star into supernova! This is never mentioned again despite the implications of the unimaginable power required to do that. With that technology how did they lose to the reapers again?

I think Javik once said something about how the Protheans were that advance, but the combination of having their central government/military power taken out via the Citadel trap and their inability to adapt due to their subjugation of all the other races caused them to ultimately lose.

If the Reapers caused the Zha'til to rebel against the Zha, then Javik would have just said so. He does not. He gives two different stories, one of the Zha'til rebelling on their creators the Zha, and then one of the Zha'til being controlled by the Reapers during their invasion.

The death of all Organic and synthetic life in favor of some twisted abomination that was forced on to the galaxy without consent. I'm all for bettering life via technological enhancements, but not forcefully using it on people. You become no better than the Necromorphs in Dead Space killing people and making then like them. If Synthesis is truly the final stage of evolution we will get to it eventually.

From the Geth dreadnaught mission:

Javik: "In my cycle, a race called the Zha used machines, the Zha'til, as synthetic symbiotes. The Reapers subjugated the Zha'til as they have the geth. Their mechanical swarms blotted out the sky. They were brutal, merciless."

Tali: "Keelah. What did you do?"

Javik: "We sent their star into supernova. I believe the Zha would have thanked us."

You would think that since the Reapers apparently can control Synthetics pretty easily you would think they would do that to prevent the whole tech-singularity fiasco.
