Man I don't want to be disappointed like with no Aveline nor Varric being for romance.

It seems the general consensus is that it's okay to judge Cassandra on her sex appeal if find her attractive, but it's not okay to to judge her sex appeal if you don't find her attractive.
So you're allowed to say she's hot, but you're not allowed to say she's not hot.
That's a weird double standard that I don't think male characters are subjected to.

There hasnt been female gamers on these forums ever complaining on male romance options lacking physical attractiveness? O.o

Ah, you discovered it. We actually did prettier versions of Cassandra and Morrigan, and the new engine spat them back out and said, "What do you think you are? BF4?" Goddamn capricious game engines, man.
I actually took this to Matt Goldman, our Art Director, and said, "New engine aside, couldn't you at least have made Cassandra and Morrigan look exactly like they did before? They were universally pretty back then. Everyone on our forums thought so, even from the first screenshots. And now..."

Not to Elton John is Dead.
Nah uh.
Elton John is Dead thought Morrigan looked ugly upon announcement and said so on the forums. So it wasn't universal.
Take that!

Dunno if I'll romance her or not. So far, we don't know enough to be able to tell whether or not she's crazy.
I seem to be drawn to the crazy ones. If she tried to kill me that would be an additional bonus.
Since we're nitpicking Cassandra's appearance, it seems to me that she lost her dark complexion. I liked it, she had a great dusky look in 2.
In general terms, I think that all returning characters should be as recognizable as possible. Cassandra was introduced about a year before the beginning of Inquisition, I think, so I I would look for her to resemble her DA2 look pretty closely. I get that it is a new engine, but I suspect her facial structure could be brought a bit closer.
For me, the issue isn't one of "better looking" or "worse looking." For me it's just a matter of seeing a character I'm familiar with that doesn't match my memory. Sometimes that's a good thing, like with Isabela. Her looks weren't just different, they were much more detailed and unique. With Cassandra, though, I think they put some effort into making her detailed and unique already, so dialing the face in to match what they did before seems like a no-brainer.
Unlike most of you (apparently) I couln't care less about the hairstyle. Seeing as how it was short a year prior, it would be odd to have it much past her shoulders now, but it is amazing how much hair some people (like my wife, for example) can grow out of a scalp over the course of a year.

Of course there has. More to your original point, I think many ladies were disappointed seeing both Zevran and Alistair in DA2. Outcries were that they looked different but I suspect that the outcry would be less if they'd been considered hotter rather than uglier. I for one prefer a change in looks that I regard to be for the better, and actually I don't mind those at all.
But, what prompted me to post was the point that Niklas made a few pages back. Have you seen the pax demo footage? In it, Cass looks very much like she did in DA2, and that material is game-play footage AND more recent then the trailer.
Does that mean issue resolved, tragedy averted?

I do know, as a College Student, I took a half dozen life drawing courses, with more models than I can count of both nude variety, and otherwise, along with art courses of various other types. With all that experience in mind. There is something very wrong with her jaw.
I've come across a great variety of structures in the female body form, and, most notably to this discussion, their faces. I've also drawn plenty of nude and clothed male models. I have seen these types of structures in the face in many models. This isn't one I typically saw in female models I drew.
Female and male beauty, or a lack thereof, are in the eye of the beholder. I'm not commenting on that. I am commenting on the fact that it's not the type of facial structure you typically find on any woman or girl, regardless of whether they're attractive or not. Your artist in DA2 did a fine job, I'm not sure why the need for a change in visuals, but then I never understood people's visual problem with DA2. All the DA2 characters looked quite visually competent in their own right.

Buuuutttt....my major complaint with Cass is the fact her neck looks WAY too thin 1) for the width of her jawline, 2) for being a S&S Warrior. Chick would have some delts on her and a thicker neck.

This is not a slam, just something to think about. You are or were a college student and saw a number of female forms over your semesters of training. The artist at Bioware have likely been doing this professionally for years and have likely seen more than you.

I think it's fine for someone to suggest that they find Cassandra unattractive, or that they find any character unattractive.
The problem, as I see it, is that many of those who make such comments don't stop there. The implication of their statements often progresses to the point that the only purpose a female character could have in the game is to be attractive--it's not even "I wouldn't want to romance her if she's romanceable" but rather "I don't want her present at all because she's unattractive".
In other words, critique regarding the art is great. I'm sure the artists appreciate it, even when it's negative. Critique regarding the attractiveness is also fine, but if it comes with an assumption that we only put characters in the game to be pretty... well, then you're wrong. I'm afraid a statement of "she's not attractive enough for me" will be met with a resounding shrug and a "sorry for your loss".
