Please put my mind at ease and tell me the current DA:I Cassandra has a placeholder face

For my part, I think she looks significantly better in DA:I than in DA2, but different strokes for different folks. Don't see why we needed a thread about this, however. Some people are ugly, some are beautiful. Thats life. Not every single person in a game has to look 'beautiful' and the devs are allowed to change the appearance of a character as much as they want between games

I was deceived. And I feel my trust in these posters has been violated.

So what if she doesn't look like the hottest supermodel around? I find this to be quite the improvement.

Cassandra is annoying. I don't want another strong 'dat warrior woman, arrr' type of character. There already was one, Aveline. Or is this a nerdy designers dream to have a dominatrix type woman to boss one around?

So I am going to say this. From the point of veiw of a person who has worked in retail for a few years...
Whats wrong with the way she looks? I mean if she isn't wearing make-up she is damn fine in my book.
Try going to walmart on the eastcost and you will see every shape and color out htere and you will find out... damn.... there are some seriously ugly ass people out there...
She is in no way ugly. She at most looks rough around the edges, but still pretty decient. I would say average, in my book. Morigan being above average with the new look (funny enough i like the new look now better than her old one)

I don't think the world 'dominatrix' fits Aveline. And beside, with the exception of (maybe) Wynne and Sigrun, all the women companions in DAO, DAA and DA2 could fit a 'nerdy designer dream', if you reduced their personality to one trait. The same goes for a lot of male characters.

Remember that she's an hardened warrior and she is about 40 years old. This things chance people...mentaly and physically.
Besides, that is not her final look. They are still teaking her and all the other characters, but pe prepared to get something similar to her trailer look.

Varric? Saw him at once and knew it was him.
Cassandra? Didnt realize it was her, and when I did - I was like "Well the hair looks the same". I mean come on, recognizing the hair and not the face? Cant say its the engine and not the artist when Varric could be recognized in a millisecond and Cassandra remained a riddle. Varric looked FANTASTIC btw.
Like someone said. If this is how Bioware originally envisioned her, I wouldnt have a problem with it at all. I simply think the change is way too drastic. She doesent look like Cassandra, she doesent even looke like a RELATIVE of Cassandra. Beautiful or ugly, I just think they are ruining the integrity of the character by making her look so vastly different.
As for being shallow, sexist or whatever. I may have put some wrong words out in frustration. I apologize for that. From a purely artistic standpoint I think the model looks great. The reason I went overboard? Well... If Leliana's nose got twice as big, Morrigan got a boobjob, Varric's hair got changed to white and Alistair reappeared with changed eyecolor - why would that offend fans? Because it ruins character integrity. Why? Because like it or not, with "beauty" or "ugly" aside, appearance IS a part of a person/characters identity.
I look at my previous posts in this thread and Im emberrased by the hyperbole and trashtalking I did. Redirecting my original complaint in such an unconstructive manner only served to hurt my original point.
So to put it as plainly as I can: I think the appearance of Cassandra in DA:I is such a huge change from the original that its bad. Especially taking into consideration that Varric looked almost identical. So I'll say it again, if this was (as someone pointed out) simply the artists working on Dragon Age - finally getting the tools to make her as they envisioned her - then I dont have a problem with it. But if not - I think they are making a mistake.
Sorry if I offended anyone... I tend to get abit emotional and unreasonable when defending things Im passionate about. And Bioware has a tendency to make things I get VERY passionate about.

If a character is written well, with depth and certain qualities I find appealing, it doesn't matter to me how he looks on the screen. I'll like him/her despite this and warm up to them. Different engine, means 'adapt' and enjoy each game as it is. I liked Cassandra in DA2, and am curious to get to see what she's like in Inquisition.
Of course, it would be nice to have the whole package and find them physically attractive as well, but I find the way a character is written to be far more appealing to me.

Cassandra does look different in the new pictures and, yes, I guess you can say that she looked 'prettier' in DA2. (I'm talking about her face in the bit of gameplay we saw, the trailer version looked better to me.) But she also looked less unique in DA2.
With the new engine, she finally looks like someone whose face you can remember without looking it up.
She may not be as classically 'pretty' as she was before, but I would be lying if I said I didn't look forward to having someone in the party who's a bit rough around the edges. (Even Aveline looked smooth as a baby's bottom, but that is the engine's fault, I guess.)

Are you serious? So uncalled for.
Anyways, I think her new design looks great. I'm also pretty sure the devs least concern is catering to certain individuals skewed perception of beauty.
Edit: Also, to everyone complaining about how she isn't as 'pretty' as she was in DA2: so what? Why do some people expect all the women in video games have to be these delicate beauties with thin faces and long, flowing hair? (I know she didn't have long hair in DA2, but I've seen a lot of people complain about her short haircut) I for one loved her strong jawline and pixie cut. Many gorgeous women in real life posess some of these very features and look great, so cool it.

Explain to me how she doesn't look like a woman? Or is it just not your idea of how women should look? Completely absurd.

Women with strong jawlines are "abominations" now? Jesus Christ.
There's nothing wrong with the way Cassandra looks, and even if she was ugly, so what? Not every character has to conform to the mainstream conception of beauty.
I agree, completely.
But honestly, I think she looks great in the new game, I think shes quite attractive and has a very exotic look to her.
Unfortunately its how people are. I have shorter hair, a stronger jawline than most women, and I don't wear makeup. I am also taller and like to work out. You have no idea how much crap I get from men and women on a daily basis for the way I look. Women are always trying to tell me how I need to wear makeup and grow my hair out if I want to be pretty, men are always telling me I must be a lesbian because of how I look, I get told all the time my husband wil leave because he will one day realize he married a "man wanna be" rather than a real woman, etc. Its rather stupid!ShallowChasm wrote...
