Aveline didn't have a guys hair cut.

So again, the only "manly feature" you can come up with is short hair so I say again Gandalf, Khal Drogo, Geralt, etc...are all feminine because their "womanly features" their long hair.

She looked like she leaped out of Vogue Italia in DA:2. Much prefer her new look. She looks battle-hardened, imo.

Personally i'd prefer if she was closer to her DA2 look. However what i've seen of her in DAI is in no way an abomination or manly.

The DAI version is more..hardened. If that's manly or not really depends on the person viewing it, I suppose. I prefer the DA2 version at the moment, but I'll wait for something other than blurry shakycam footage to cement my feelings on it.

One thing I think people should remember with these kinds of threads is that it is all about personal taste - something that's going to vary quite widely. If someone has an opinion that's not the same as yours, it's not a declaration of war.

I really like her old look and the new one. Looks like a warrior from what I've seen so far and very attractive, in my opinion.

It took some getting used to, initially, but I actually like her new appearance better... [snip]

This is also how I feel about Cassandra :)

To some people it is a declaration of war.

I prefer DA2 as well, but I also understand that this is a new engine. Meaning we probably won't get too close to Cassandra's DA2 look.

Hopefully they release a video showing the final version of gameplay (all the tweaks, fixes, etc.)
soon.

Don't see why people are complaining so much. Her DA:I face looks like a far more detailed version of the DA2 face.

Because men have to be 'manly' and women have to be 'womanly' and people can't just look like freaking people.

Even some of the well-meaning comments in this thread would make the baby cheeses cry.

*smashes the gender binary and runs away laughing*

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. So why we're arguing here? Saying Cass is beautiful or ugly is pointless, since everyone has different tastes. To people who say she looks like a man (LOL): just because she looks like a man to you, doesn't mean they should change her face so she can appear "more feminine" to your eyes.

She doesn't look like a man to me.
Cass is perfect the way she is.

Short hair isn't a men only thing, you know. It makes more sense for a woman who walks around in full armor (and most likely a helmet) to have short hair than long hair does. And a square jaw isn't a trait found only in men either. Not to mention in every picture we've seen her in, Cassandra is wearing armor. We have no idea what she looks like without armor on. I think the fact that she's been changed slightly to look more unique is fantastic.

I love her look. Why does it matter if you find her physically beautiful or not? She's still Cassandra.

I don't think she's pretty in the gameplay demo , I don't think it's a big deal.
She lost some of her softer features from the trailers , fuller lips ...her eyes also seemed green.
Or maybe it's just a change in the lightning.

Sometimes it seems the devs are going for some kind of "exotic" beauty with her , then back pedal and just try to give her more "no bull****" features.

What annoys me is not her face ,it's her voice.
Cassandra VA is really good when she's threatening people, she was cool in DA2.
But I just can't stand her when she's all soft spoken.
Leliana voice had the same effect on me ...
If the two of them have some scene when they talk quietly and everything...I'm just going to suffer.

Im just troubled that she doesent look like she did in DA2 at all. Varric for example looks pretty much the same. You dont think the change is too drastic? She looks like a completely different person imo, the similarity is completely gone.

Um. Its a new game engine. You should have expected her to look different. She still looks the same to me.

I actually took this to Matt Goldman, our Art Director, and said, "New engine aside, couldn't you at least have made Cassandra and Morrigan look exactly like they did before? They were universally pretty back then. Everyone on our forums thought so, even from the first screenshots. And now..."

And he wept, man. He wept.

Tsk. Crunch is hard on artists.

As much as this topic disgusts me, I'm glad this thread happened because of that ^ I lol'd.

In all seriousness though, Matt, if you read this, I think Cassandra (Morrigan too, actually) is quite pretty. Don't be sad! Image IPB

Since everyone else is saying their preferences of Cassandra, my favorite face of hers was in Dragon Age: Dawn of the Seeker. But since we aren't going that animated route in the games, of the 2 I like both faces but for different reasons and if I had to choose one I'd say Inquisition is my favorite of the two.

A tragedy indeed, Mr. Gaider. And it's already happened. Sadly.

Yes. We, too, are very sad.

Let us all hang our heads in melancholic comisseration for those who must endure the presence of insufficiently feminine women. They are the unsung heroes among us.

<3 I giggled at this.

I think she is beautiful in the pax picture linked earlier but then again I thought she was beautiful in the trailer too. I can't see the manly myself, just that she's beautiful and looks strong. I like her face.

I agree with that, I think the designer(s) did a very nice job with Pax-Cassandra, she looks realistic, believable, battle hardened yet attractive but not like one of those catwalk fashion models.  I think the designers succeeded with what they had in mind.

By the way, to those who think Cassandra has a wide strong jaw that makes her look ugly and manly, do consider Olivia Wilde manly and ugly? She has a very strong jaw.
If you do, I can tell you, then you belong to a very VERY tiny minority.

Personally, I think all the characters we've seen so far look like they're made from melting plastic or wax.

I do think Cassandra looks bad, not because she's not "pretty" but because she looks like a failed Madame Tussauds creation.

To compare her to her look in DA2, I think there's a pretty large difference. In DA:I she has a wider and flatter chin, fatter cheeks and an all over rounder face. From the pictures I'm looking at, her lips also appear larger, but that might just be the angles. Her eyebrows have definitely changed shape.

Of course whether any of that will be especially noticeable in the game is another thing entirely. Could be that when in game all the characters look awesome. Could be they don't. From what we've seen so far—a cinematic and some pre alpha footage—it's very hard to tell.
