Why NOT get a pure lyrium sword?
Answer me that.
Meredith has got the funds for it and a high position (which makes an ornate weapon even more fitting).

You claim Meredith took it specificly to increase her power, and yet NO ONE knew the powers of red lyrium. As far as anyone knew, it was just an exotic magical sword. There was (and still is) nothing to indicate it grants resistance to blood magic.

Is there even a timeline for when she forged the sword from the idol? She didn't seem to have it during the fight with the qunari at the end of chapter 2 in DA2. Seems likely that she bought the idol for some reason other than to forge a weapon and either had an epiphany, or was effected by the idol, at a later date.

I think you're correct in positing that she, or someone in her position, would be inclined to purchase it for any number of reasons not directly tied to culling the circle mages or forging a newer more scary magic blade. Lyrium fuels templar powers, and they're intentionally nudged by the chantry hierarchy into developing an addiction to the substance; it's also a seemingly unique example of red lyrium that would be worthy of research for it's own sake; and finally it's a priceless relic of unrecorded history that appears to predate even the setting's mythic ages - any collector would love to have it, and any political mover and shaker would recognise the amount of influence that could potentially be bought by gifting it to the right person.

That's everyone on the ME1 team, and imo, they all have more uses and utility than Liara. Beyond being a Prothean expert, Liara really isn't someone that has a place on the ship.

Wasn't that the entirety of her role in the first game? It's also a big chunk of her utility in the third game, admittedly she did take a couple of levels in ice-cold killer between games.

She acquired it in Act 2 from Bartrand. Bartrand had broken off a piece to keep for himself however, which ended up increasing the idol's power. But the sword either wasn't ready for her at the time of the Qunari attack, was back in her office, or the idol was on her person. Or something. All we know is that she got it in Act 2.

Yeah, she did grow in her capabilities. I'd still imagine she's not primarily a combatant, nor would I say her skills have increased to a level rivalling the more veteran members of the team, but yes, she has grown. I'd still say she'd be best suited on an intelligence operation and coordinating her resources somewhere other than the Normandy. I honestly don't get why Liara had to be on the Normandy in ME3. She'd be better served doing something like she was doing in ME2.

Wasn't this originally a Dragon age thread? I think we need to remove kebab David and get this on topic.

Indeed. Way to go David for spoiling yet another DA thread.

I'm sorry for the damage I did people. I apologize.

I would like to say this, regarding liara. She is 106 years old if I recall, and the daughter of a very influential matriarch, who has squads of asari commandos at her command. I would imagine it is reasonable that she received training in self defense as a child and in the honing of her biotics as well, if anything out of simple asari speciesist pride. Dhe could reasonably be a biotic expert, though it would most likely be in a support capacity in mass effect, same as tali.

Blue skinned mages are the worst type of mages, to be honest.

BTW, david. You arnt allowed to use my argument fkr your point. I do not give consenf for you to do so in any capacity. The reason being that since you never brought that point up before on your own I see no reason that should change going into the future.
