Judging from both the YouTube videos and Angry Joe's review, the game seems to mostly be a mediocre sci-fi FPS that has fairly impressive visuals.

That's... actually exactly what I would expect a launch title for a new console to be. Not what I would hope for, but still what I've come to expect.

Angry Joe is a typical youtube troll. To form an opinion based on his reviews is a foolish thing to do. Also, youtube never fully replace actual gameplay and cutscenes. Did you watch Mass Effect Trilogy on youtube or actually played it? I really doubt you based your opinion on ME based on reviews and youtube. Other games deserve the same approach.

How the hell is Joe a troll?

Remember his ME3 reviews? 100% trolling, zero constructive thoughts. In my eyes he will remain a typical troll forever. Or untill he will actually make some constructive review.

Ah, as I thought. You're forming your entire opinion of him from one video that you were already going to disagree with before you even starting watching it, regardless of what Angry Joe actually said in it. He could have recited a professional level thesis on the subject with as much oratory skill has ficking Martin Luther King and you would have called him an unproductive troll.

Calling those who don't agree with you a troll only hurts your case.

YouTube is primarily how I get impressions about a game, either through reviews like AJ or through lets plays. To use a different example from Mass Effect(since I tried that at a friends house), I watched Jesse Cox's playthrough of The Witcher 2 and that made me want to buy the game because it looked like a game that I would enjoy. I ended up picking the game up and loved it.

I'm not getting that feeling about Killzone. It's a very pretty game to be sure, but I have yet to see anything gameplay or story wise that wows me.

Or you could have bought the Mass Effect Trilogy for $30 bucks (assuming you have a PS3).

Ah, yes, Killzone - It is truly a remarkable piece of gaming entertainment; Telling an emotional story of the heroicefforts of a glorious nation called the United States of Amer-I mean the ISA as they are fighting the evil Empire of ****-cockneys. Truly a next step for FPS as it drags you on a piece of string from one scripted event to the another. This what I would say if it wasn't for every game ever made ever. It is a generic, spunkgargle-wee-wee first person shooter with regenerative health and the occasional on-rails space combat, if it is anything like the last game.

KIllzone is a FPS Chris, but you're 100% correct.

It's suppose to have a million shades of grey but really it's just British Space Goose steppers  vs. US Bro Team in battleground Alpha Centauri from the way the games present it as it is.

The only good plotwise game is the Vita one.

Standards of quality? You mean mediocre story, uninteresting characters (Old Man Visari and Radec are turning in their graves), boring protagonist, dumbed down AI, and padded sequences are now a standard of next generation games?

I guess you base your opinion on reviews and youtube too. Or you are just one of the persons who think that ME3 was an example of bad writing. Why should I care about your opinion at all?

What does ME3 have to do with this and how do you know he didn't play it. Stop trolling.

I played and finished the game with my buddy who is a fellow KZ fan.

Mass Effect 3 IS an example of bad writing from the "WE FIGHT OR WE DIE" to "I am the Catalyst"

Why should I care about your opinion at all?

You care enough to respond to me, quiz kid.

Man, in retrospect I wish I had just watched ME2 and 3 on YouTube. The entire trilogy was linear enough to not miss a beat watching it on YouTube and I didn't enjoy any of the sequels as much as the first. Could have saved $120 bucks.

Might as well have watched the sequels on youtube, since the "choices" provide the exact same experience as seeing it on there.

I didn't get any strong feelings about K:SF from reviews and youtube too. I only got a feeling that I must try the first nex-gen game anyway. And I knew that reviews and letsplays are unreliable sources of info.

You're posting to someone who thinks Beyond: Two Souls is the best "game" of all time.

Some people are beyond saving.

And here I thought there was sarcasm in the title.

"Hey, let's putthe player in a non movable turret in front of a large room and have him kill lots of enemies. Oh yeah, and to make it interesting the player won't have any extra protection at all."

I've played several killzones and tbh I think the old ones are better. And the interesting story? A friend and I were playing it taking turns (each death we swapped) and we were able to call every single thing. Yes, thing, because at this point they're so overused I'm reluctant to call them twists.

Oh in this game the spaze na.zis are greyed out and not evil. No, wait. We can't have a killzone without shooting space na.zis, we'll make a radicall group (that seems to contain every single helghast with a gun, except the token chick companion/exposition dumpener).

Does it have its good moment? Oh yes. The space levels in which the sun melts boxes and even enemies is original. I also liked the train level atthe beggining. But pretty much since you join forces with the token chick girl the game just starts giving up. Walk there, wave level. Walk over there, wave level but from four different directions.

Does it look good? Yes. Ryse looks good. Pre rendered trailers look good too.

Plus one of its more original gameplay options, the owl flying robot, a flying robot that basically could do your job for you, and actually that's the problem. Except the very beggining and that one scape out of prison level (I know these can be considered spoiler but it's just it. You're captured and we get the sneak out of prison without your gear level.) you can make the owl make your job for you.

"Owl shoot those guys." "Owl take their shields. *waits for cooldown* Owl kill those guys." "Owl hack this, and that." "Owl help me zipline down there." "Owl there they're shooting me give me a shield." "I'm down, Owl, revive me with adrenaline."

Why can't they send an army of owls instead of guys again?

Ah, screw it. I've talked enough about it, here, another person's opinion. http://angryjoeshow....e-angry-review/

Oh yeah hey Sevial since you never stop praising B2S, explain to me how Cole got seriously wounded by the black entities when he was wearing the HALO shield ghost repellent?

Yeah, I've played Killzone 3 and while it had decent gameplay the plot was one of the worst I've played. I doubt much has changed with Shadow Fall, especially judging by the reviews.

Anyway, Seival never ceases to surprise me with his taste in games. His list of favourites cover completely different genres and levels of quality; does he just pick them out of a hat or something? I can't find a pattern.

Kind of, the Helgast have a better portrayal in KZ 1 and 2, although in 3 you're absolutely right, the story was such utter crap in terms of portrayal and went full CoD 'murica fuck yeah mentaility.

But what gets my ire up is why can't we play as the bloody Helgast, they're so much more interesting than whoever you play as! Shadow Fall set up the position rather well and it feels like a cop out that they didn't give you the chance to see the world from the Helgast persepective you would be the British space nais! (and why are some Helgast accents American? Really? Pffffft) The storyline is alright, fairly solid, but a bit directionless and flounders about at points in the game.

It could have really been something great to work with, but they blew it.

That said, it's not a bad game, good, but nothing really outstanding. Graphically yeah it's impressive, but so is a tech demo, so meah and PC has had this level of graphics for years.

What I do like is the MP and mechanics set it appart from kiddie lvl CoD and Battlefield in terms of size, there's no auto aim, soft ADS so ADS speed is secondary, weapons are quite varied, maps are free(this alone puts it above Battlefield and CoD's horse crap), no micro transaction grinding for weapon unlocks(again great! I don't have time for that crap), they're all unlocked from the get go. Classes are good, nice power and ability variations, weapons are reasonably balanced good variety of ways to play and spec.

I'd say worth a buy, probably better than CoD and BF, but really only if you're into the MP aspect, the story won't hold it up alone.

Yep, nukes it with something called Irradiated Petrusite (Radiation mixed with Electricity).

It's the dumbest thing ever.

Believe me I agree, I still own my PS2 copy of KZ1 I bought back in 2007. Glitchy as all hell, but fun and actually has a lot of decent characters like Adams and Hakha.

(and why are some Helgast accents American? Really? Pffffft)

First thing my buddy said when he started playing, "What happened to their accents?"
