Nah, KZ is still KZ. Overated and still clunky. The MP is pretty cool, but it's not a juggernaught by no means. I Remember when KZ came out on PS2. It was clouded at the "halo killer" then KZ2 came out on PS3......

So Sony brah, how'd that work out for you???

Battlefield 4 looks better in my opinion.

But I play PC. So... Yeah.

Got PS4 day 1 tho, lulz. Shadow fall is the only good game on the system, but it's still Killzone and PSN is still PSN. Oh I take that back. AC Black Flag is good, but that's on PC tho. Although I will say this, Battlefield 4 does look amazing on PS4, pretty close to PC running high settings methinks. But BF4.... EA servers and bugs.

The whole talk about a medium replacing another medium makes me laugh. How often was photograph talked about being replaced? Games will not replace movies and shouldn't be even argued to do so - they're both entirely different experiences, as are books, movies, paintings and everything in between. On the topic of Killzone, graphically - it's beautiful and the political aspects brought up in the game are interesting, but the story itself is forgettable and the characters again, same thing. All Next-Gen will be for the next few months are "look how pretty this game looks!", compared to delivering an all-around quality experience.

I considered BF4's story to be amazing. Liked the atmosphere, the characters, the intensity, the SOUNDS!

I know what I am getting into, I am not expecting the freaking Mahabharat when I buy a shooter, but I know it will still be a fun story.

Which BF4 was.

I really hope there will be a Bad Company 3. I feel far more acquainted to Bravo Company than I do to Battlefield 3's "characters".

I personally disliked BF4's story - t'was boring - but I can see the appeal and yes, it was fun.

I see the emphasize on graphic fidelity as a symptom not the cause. IMO, its the fact that we have billion dollar corporations dominating the industry that is stagnating innovation.

These corporations are based on the hard work of the most creative people in the world. They are moving the progress forwards. Not just the game development, but also technologies in general... There is a nice saying: "Wanna see the future? Invent it.". Talanted sci-fi writers, great modern artists and composers, all progressive and creative people in general are taking as much part in our civilization's advancement as the scientists.

Stagnation lives only within and around the people who prefer to dwell on the past, and refuse to move forwards. Including the players who prefer Planescape: Torment over Mass Effect Trilogy, or Killzone 1 over Killzone: Shadow Fall for example.

Exceptional modern AAA heavily story-driven games are both philosophically and visually more deep and impressive than any old or old-schoolish game out there.

What about call of duty 4? Or bioshock infinite? Or halo?

I didn't think Halo or Bioshock Infinite had good stories at all tbh.

Haven't played CoD 4, so I won't judge that one.

Except it's not dwelling on the past, it's people preferring good games over games that have fancy graphics

Your so blinded over the fact that games lately has amazing graphics that you obviously don't care about anything else about gaming

But in some some cases some older games are better than the newer ones. Like dragon age origins and dragon age 2 or cod 4 and every proceeding cod. Hell the entire final fantasy franchise is proof of this with the games jumping between amazing and garbage with every release.

Translate Kaiser Arian's posts and I'll really be impressed.

So, the future of video games lies in minimalist gameplay and barebone features in favor of shiny graphics. B/c when I think video games, I think big budget CGI films.

And don't try to equate shiny video game graphics as having anything to do w/ the advancement of civilization.

I didn't know that high-end graphics makes for better games. You seem to share the beliefs of some non-gamer, corporate douchebag who have absolutely no reason being anywhere near gaming. You want more visually impressive graphics? Wait for Avatar 2 to come out.

Like I said, the most important parts of a game for me are story and visuals/sound/music. I care about gameplay much less - it should be at least acceptible, i.e. something that will not bore me.

Well those are the most important aspects for a game for you then shouldn't games like, planescape torment, silent hill 2, persona 4, Red dead redemption and bioshock be your favorites? Since all of these games have amazing stories and soundtracks.

I doubt Seival actually cares about soundtracks. "Visually appealing" is always the catch. Something like Persona 4 (gaming lord keep Seival away from that) would be utter garbage.

Sevial would hate P4 because it is not HD.

People who value gameplay the least should probably just stick to movies.

The only redeeming feature of Killzone: Shadowfall was the fact that it set-up for a playable Helghast in Killzone 4, that's pretty much it.

The gameplay is sub-standard and wouldn't be well-loved during the 360/PS3 era of gaming, the visuals are decent but still lagging greatly behind PC platforms, the writing is Space America vs Space ****s and the voice acting is meh.

I'd say the Call of Duty franchise--despite all the rehashing and such--has at-least done a little bit more than turret segments and corridor shooting in terms of game-play. Not by much but there's some very minimal effort of trying to make it feel different, something Shadowfall didn't succeed with.

You realize that makes no sense at all right.  If you enjoy a game better, regardless if it's a game from the 90's or present, that doesn't = stagnation.
