Killzone: Shadow Fall... Wow, the first next-gen game has set really high standards of quality.

I doubt Seival actually cares about soundtracks. "Visually appealing" is always the catch. Something like Persona 4 (gaming lord keep Seival away from that) would be utter garbage.

That what's odd about Seiv having Deus Ex in his countdown. The art team did a nice job a stretching the tech they were using to its limits (the cyberpunk art style etc) but by contemporary standards it didn't look all that great.

Hah good point. I kinda dread to think what he would think about Persona 5 when it comes out.

Well those are the most important aspects for a game for you then shouldn't games like, planescape torment, silent hill 2, persona 4, Red dead redemption and bioshock be your favorites? Since all of these games have amazing stories and soundtracks.

Sevial would hate P4 because it is not HD.

The "PC version" (wink) is.

Eh, I thought HR looked nice. There's better looking games out there for sure but I never compared HR with something else, like The Witcher 2, and said, "Well, this looks like crap."

If so his top 5 list is going to empty fast.

This was my first game for my PS4. I rate it at a 9/10. The reason why, despite the weak characters, plot, and the most frustrating sequences I have ever played in a video game, it does what a next generation game should do. It shows off what the PS4 is capable of visually, technically, and graphically. On top of that the sound design is really good as well. The botzone is pretty good as well. Haven't played the multiplayer thought.

Interesting observation OP. While I'm still trying to find a PS4 to buy(at retail price...not scalped), I did play this game a few hours at my friends house. I thought the mission structure and especially level design was much worse than I expected. Some parts feel really nonsensical and annoying. I think this game sits at the top of the pedestal to represent a FPS that's pretty and not much else. It's actually fairly bland in how it plays compared to other shooters like Battlefield 4. It's definitely way behind BF4 in MP. Well, when BF4 works that is.

Isn't it only running at 60 FPS? That is quite a low bar to be setting.

Lol @ giving games high scores because it does what next gen games should do visually and graphically. Your criteria screams "double standard". One I'm quite happy that reviewers (because people DO take stock in review scores) don't seem to follow.

Did the quality come out on DLC OP? From what I have heard it is visually stunning,a product that shows the power of the next generation gaming. However, the mechanics of this product are luckluster. It is like buying a prostitue and then finding out she has herpes, buying juice which is tasteless, buying mass effect 3 and then choosing the color endi.....nah.

I see the emphasize on graphic fidelity as a symptom not the cause. IMO, its the fact that we have billion dollar corporations dominating the industry that is stagnating innovation.

These corporations are based on the hard work of the most creative people in the world. They are moving the progress forwards. Not just the game development, but also technologies in general... There is a nice saying: "Wanna see the future? Invent it.". Talanted sci-fi writers, great modern artists and composers, all progressive and creative people in general are taking as much part in our civilization's advancement as the scientists.

Stagnation lives only within and around the people who prefer to dwell on the past, and refuse to move forwards. Including the players who prefer Planescape: Torment over Mass Effect Trilogy, or Killzone 1 over Killzone: Shadow Fall for example.

Exceptional modern AAA heavily story-driven games are both philosophically and visually more deep and impressive than any old or old-schoolish game out there.

Indeed. A reaction like that is guaranteed if your brave enough to give Seival threads a quick read. I'll not say what their full of, that's bad manners. Or maybe I'm just not ready to deal with the ban hammer.

You don't need no story when your game is as awesome as this.

How can we advance technologically w/o games that have better graphics than gameplay?

Can your eyes even recognize the difference between 60 FPS and 300 FPS?
Though 100 Hz TVs are much better than 60 Hz TVs.

and I find this topic interesting:
Hz vs FPS

His criteria screams buyer's remorse. What he described may be a great demonstration of the PS4's capabilities but it sounds like a not very good game.

Shadowfall SP is 30 FPS and the multi is 60 IIRC.

I never got too hung up on FPS. I know 30's not as smooth as 60 but the difference never felt particularly jarring.
