... he talks about having a ship like the Normandy, and "a loyal crew with many friends." And, because they're all indoctrinated, he had to face them all in battle, for years, and finally kill them with a knife. What if Shepard had to do that, against the Normandy crew? I think that would be kinda awesome.

I could see them all chasing after you in their own reaper-enhanced ships over the course of several battles and missions, while you're on the Normandy with a new crew.

And lose ALL the characters we've grown to love over the years? No way.

If Shepard had to do that, it would be very grim story.

Ever play SWTOR Trooper character? It is very similar to what you describe.

I don't think I'd particularly like this change of pace to cap off the story. Just about every anecdote of Javik's is some grim tale of horror and loneliness. It serves better as just a story a character tells us, than something our escapist fantasy is reduced to.

I wouldn't like that either, but I think the point of this topic is about Shepard being faced with the gut-wrenching, heartbreaking choice of staying on course with the mission to stop the Reapers and bring peace to the galaxy, or compromise the mission to save the lives of the crew he/she and we have grown to care about. The ethical and unethical choices are not so clear, unfortunately.

Shepard doesn't need to live through the same thing. Shepard is the beneficiary of people like Javik.. he's riding on all of their shoulders.. He isn't going to experience half of the crap they did. As bad as it seems, the story of Mas Effect is that there's actually hope for this cycle. That's kind of been the point about the Protheans since ME1 and the Conduit. You're not supposed to have as it bad as they did.

All good points, thanks for the replies everyone. I posted this topic just after playing out that scene on the Normandy, and I started thinking about going up against some of the crew, like Javik had to. Be some pretty interesting battles and dialogues.

Maybe Shep could possibly save them, somehow break the indoctrination, like he did with Saren and TIM... only without the headshots.
