To me mass effect died when Mass Effect 3 finished.... if any other Mass Effect comes out... i wont play it unless shepard was in it but thats just me... it wouldnt be the same... it would feel empty.... and just always missing something....

So Anyways how does everyone else feel about mass effect 4 without shepard to them?

to me playing mass effect 4 would also feel like... my best friend had died in real life that i grew up with... now i will forced to live life without them.... and no matter what my liffe wouldnt be the same...

No, not the same to me but I would be willing to accept it....point is, how do I know Bioware is NOT going to pull the "art" card and kill my character off forcibly at the end of this new series....AGAIN

Thing is, it wasn't simply Shepard that I got attached to, but rather the circle of allies/friends that Shepard gathers throughout the trilogy, though there is a certain familiarity with the character (especially if it's a custom Shep) that I do enjoy. That said, I try to reserve judgment. BioWare is actually pretty good at creating entertaining and interesting characters, so while I'm not exactly thrilled for Shepard's story to be over, the new one could possibly be just as good, or maybe (hopefully) be even better.

No problem with it.

It wouldn't be first franchise with more then one main character.

Any new game is going to have to stand on its own feet without any warmth/affection/faith from me that comes Shep i'd developed, his friends & the universe i'd got the ability to shape.

No, it won't be the same.

Nor should it be.

Yeah, it will. Mass Effect is so much more than Shep. In fact, ME is like 99% not Shep and only 1% Shep. Salarians aren't Shep. Quarians aren't Shep. Krogan sure aren't Shep. Pretty much everything but Shep isn't Shep. So yeah, I am pretty excited to return to the awesome galaxy of Mass Effect. I don't dislike Shep either, I just am not in love with him/her.

I will not support another ME game until Shepard story is given a real conclusion. ME has failed me as a series. I'd gotten to enthralled within it over the course of ME and ME2, then ME3 crapped on everything. It left a bad taste in my mouth and I can't move on, on how they treated the majority of the ME cast or Shepard. So no, no Shepard no ME for me.

Still looking forward to DA 3 though;)

Nope not even close. Not just because of Shepard. I find the supporting cast is what drew me in. No shepard. But also no Garrus, Tali, Legion, Miri, Wrex, Thane, Mordin, James, Grunt, Kasumi, Javik, hell I'll even miss Marry Sue Liara.  No Shep, no crew, no normandy.

It's Shep or bust. Looks like's its gonna be a big bust.

The series features a mostly customizable protagonist. You could basically recreate your same character. Shepard dying doesn't really mean much to me. He was my character. I'll continue as my character regardless of Shepard. I don't see why this a big deal. The character is nothing but a last name and a voice. Are you really so attached to ghat? And as much as I will miss my supporting cast, which is the main source of affection I have, im excited to meet new caracters. Why is everyone so afraid of new and different things? I don't want to hang out with the same people every game. The universe is the thing which keeps me coming back. So I'll be back and excited

I wouldn't have minded a new protagonist, if Shepard had received a better send off. As it is, Shepard's story seems unfinished, so I would feel any new character would be stepping into dead man's shoes before they're even cold, so to speak. He or she would therefore face an uphill struggle to win my affections.

Different is fine. I like TNG better than TOS, and DS9 better than either.

TNG is a good example. I think it's far and away superior to TOS. I was disappointed by a lot of DS9 though, especially in how it ended. BSG takes a very similar turn in its final run. I suppose that shouldn't be surprising, as Ronald D. Moore was involved with both.

I would not be surprised if there is no reference made to the trilogy or the characters in the next game.

I would like to see femshep in another game only to give her a better ending/conclusion. I am looking to the next Mass Effect game after the one released by Bioware Montreal where if(and that's a big if) femshep might return.

Moore did put a bunch of mystical elements in play, yeah. The Prophets might as well be magical, and the BSG "angels" and the recurring cycles don't even pretend to have a non-supernatural explanation.

I was fine with a new character after the trilogy before.

Now, given what horrible things they did to Shepard and Shepard's story, I don't WANT whatever comes next to have anything to do with Shep.

I'll miss the crew, and my Shep's bald, misshapen cranium, but that won't stop me from playing.

Shepard is a brick that can easily be discarded, to me as long as we have Mass Effect Fields, it will be Mass Effect.

It's just a video game franchise.....
