Obviously no, but that's kinda the point isn't it? ME4 will be something unique and fresh hopefully. If I wanted it to feel exactly like either of the 3 current games I'd go play those.

I agree they shouldn't make it feel like a whole different universe if we're still in the same timeline or even the same places in the past/future from ME1-3 but I don't really need a game that feels exactly like ME1-3 either.

Nope. As has been said, I think of it like Star Trek. TOS, TNG, DS9, Voyager, Enterprise, the reboot (s). In a perfect world, I can enjoy them all. Oh, guess what? I can.

Same with Mass Effect.

Bioware is good at creating interesting caracters. Like to see what they cook up for us anew.
Shep will always be there on my hardware. So no, the future is bright for me.

I don't care if ME4 isn't about Shepard or any of the characters, I didn't get interested into the series because of them. What drew me in was the fact that it was set in space and was similar to Star Trek/Star Wars.

If the series had all the same characters and they were exactly the same as they are now but instead the series been in a High Fantasy setting similar to The Lord of the Rings I would never have touched it, the setting made all the difference.

Shepard and the rest just came included as part of the package like some games come included as part of a Console bundle. Even if those games had never been included as part of the bundle I still would have bought the console.

To me mass effect died when Mass Effect 3 finished.... if any other Mass Effect comes out... i wont play it unless shepard was in it but thats just me... it wouldnt be the same... it would feel empty.... and just always missing something....

So Anyways how does everyone else feel about mass effect 4 without shepard to them?

to me playing mass effect 4 would also feel like... my best friend had died in real life that i grew up with... now i will forced to live life without them.... and no matter what my liffe wouldnt be the same...

I'm looking forward to it. Mass Effect shouldn't be the same without Shepard. Otherwise it's just some copy and paste job with some other figure who might as well just be Shepard. I hope I like the new protag, the companions, and whoever else in it.

One thing I hope though, is that BioWare quickly decide on whether they are going a Science Fiction route or Science Fantasy route and stick to it, because whilst I still found it enjoyable the flip flopping sometimes got annoying, As a fan of Star Wars I would be happy with a permanent Science Fantasy route, as long as they stick to it throughout.

Nope not even close. Not just because of Shepard. I find the supporting cast is what drew me in. No shepard. But also no Garrus, Tali, Legion, Miri, Wrex, Thane, Mordin, James, Grunt, Kasumi, Javik, hell I'll even miss Marry Sue Liara. No Shep, no crew, no normandy.

It's Shep or bust. Looks like's its gonna be a big bust.

But but....ART

and..... INTEGRITY. Yes, yes. We'v dismissed such claims.

I don't want it to be, but I'm all prepared for the inevitable Shepard 2.0.

I don't mind it having a new main character. I'd prefer a new trilogy with new characters instead of just relying on the same characters again. Shepard has saved the galaxy three times already, so let him/her have a rest.

I'm hoping they give us a hero with a IQ of over 20 at least.

25, but he will have ADD, ADHD, OCD, ODD and have an inclination for being persuaded to do insanely suicidal things....oh wait

Shepard was never ME to me.

The ME world was ME. And will be.

It won't be the same, but it's not meant to be the same. I'm sure I'll greatly miss my Shepard, and the new PC will take some getting used to. But I am excited about the new game and the new characters, hopefully they too will be likeable and we'll get attached to them as we did to Shep & crew.

No. Potentially worse. Or potentially better. Or potentially the same quality. Different either way, which is a good thing imo. I'm definitely in the camp that ME is much bigger than Shepard and his/her POV.

If 3 had been better I'd have been happy to play 4 without Shepard. As things are, I'll skip it and just think of Mass Effect as an unfinished 2-part series.

It won't be the same. That's ok. It shouldn't be.

...I think it's gonna be a reboot.

I completely agree with EntropicAngel. Shepard was intentionally created with no personality so that every player can identify with 'their' Shepard. The significance of Mass Effect lies with the characters and the universe--Shepard is just medium through which we can experience it.

You cant have a whole universe revolving around one character forever.
