Does this mean the body types will be selectable as in SWTOR, or is it the same as DA:O? I would be satisfied either way. Totally minor thing, in my opinion.
Based on the dev quote, DA:O.

I think that just means you can't customize the body with sliders.
Good. I never messed around with them anyway. I trust in the developers to make a great-looking default model without me turning it into a disproportioned duck person with sliders.

Skyrim.
Skyrim doesn't have the level of detail and customization that Dragon Age Inquisition is going to have.

Man, every day I look up Inquisition news, and every single day I see another article by the examiner fishing for views that claims some mind blowing news that's just a tiny thing that's worded like it's an update when it's really not.
Worse. Their authors are paid on a per-click basis, so they frequently write intentionally vague material both in the articles and the titles for click bait.

Skyrim and Eve can get away with sliders because nobody ever touches each other (or rarely)... but here if you're closing the eyes of dead people, comfort-hugging mourners, punching ***holes, kissing lovers, leaning against doors to hold them closed, what-have-you... need some scale.

I'm not saying not to have it in bioware. We have some transgender characters in the story so it's not an issue to let the player do so. I would love if BW did that....It just I don't think a custumization system as colorful as SR4 should be the total example...But full body customization should be in dai.Mr.House wrote...

It doesn't even need to be that big, either skinny, muscley, fat, or normal, as a 4 choice body type system would work well enough. It would at the least be a reasonably executable addition that everyone has a chance of using in creating their character.

Body shape customization was done, in swtor, which was a bioware game developed in their recent years. I don't see why they can't use that type of system for dragon age and eventually mass effect.

Butt here is body type customization in DA:I - Bioware has to test and work out the cinematics and animations (and armour) for 4 bodies: human, elf, dwarf and quanri. In fact, there are 8 types since we have gender too.
Adding 4 body types means combinatorial explosion, basically. Suddenly you have 32 different types the cinematics have to account for.

a.) Two different body types per gender
b.) Two bodies per race - male and female (= DAO & DA2)
c.) Four different body types per gender

I'm pretty sure it's two (male & female) bodies per race.
The 4 body types are human, elf, dwarf and qunari.

I don't see how this would be more of a problem then it would in, say, swtor. Or say, so much more expensive as to be labeled in the "pay no mind" list forever.
If it is the case though I feel bad for all the npcs of the world. They're all going to look exactly the same when it comes to physique, height, weight, build, etc.
Maybe it would make a nice new hurtle to try and cross in adding a little world emersion into the setting.

SWTOR burned a huge pile of money. The VO was absurd, but that wasn't the entire cost. And SWTOR had more rudementary animations than any Bioware game out there - even ME1.

They can make custom rigs for certain NPCs - like the fat guy barkeep model they had in DA:O - but that's because they know ahead of time what the NPCs look like. I agree with you they should invest a lot more into variable bodytypes for NPCs.

And if all they're looking at those two things as are body types, It makes me fear what the writing will be like for the characters.
Qunari Inquisitor: "I don't understand what's a tal-vashoth. Is that another type of qunari?
Elf inquisitor: So why are the elves so mad at us humans?
Dwarf inquisitor: So dwarves all come from only two cities? Why not just go to other cities in the deep roads.
Female inquisitor: So you're telling me that woman have to get periods every month? Glad I'm not one.

Now, the subject matter is not so prominent in this article but basically all quotes are answers to fan questions. I don't know if this is news or not actually, but let's see what happens.
So basically Mike Laidlaw confirms this in the article, and I quote:"Finally, Mike Laidlaw confirmed that players will be able to alter the physique of their main characters. Instead of sliders, however, they are limited to just four body types per race. You can find his comment below:
"Not with sliders. We're investing in supporting 4 race body types instead." "
So, I don't know about you but this is massively disappointing to me, because this is something I've always taken for granted with both Mass Effect and Dragon Age and like with Autodialogue I think it's wrong to change conceptual stuff midway through a series of sequels. I know DA is not a trilogy, I know we don't control the same character for several games but I still think the same concept for character creation which is such a fundamental RPG mechanic should stay consistent in sequels.
To bring this down, Mike says that we can't customize faces, but instead we have 4 presets that include body and face, so basically there are 4 characters with 4 presets to choose from. I didn't expect a DA:O 2 but this is disappointing for someone who never used the preset faces in Dragon Age.
So... what the buck?
At what point in the article does it mention faces? In the time it took you to type two paragraphs worth of opinion, you could have properly digested the information and saved thread space.
