Multiplayer Bioware Please?

Sure, the current slew of games (almost) all have MP in some form or fashion, but how many of those are FPS, or racing games? The amount of Action/RPG titles with a fantasy setting, and a co-operative MP are very few and far between. In terms of recent releases I can only think of Dark Souls, and LOTOR: War in the North, that would fit that criteria (if I am missing anything please let me know).
I know that there are people that would say that adding MP would be a watering down of the series to appeal to the wider audiences, but if DA:I had (at the very least) a MP mode similar to ME 3's how many other games would have a compelling and deep narrative setting, complete with engrossing player decisions AND have co-op MP WITHOUT being an MMO? That list is very short, and (IMHO) something that could help set the game apart from the other fantasy RPGs out there.

Whether or not that money would be "better spent" elsewhere is irrelevent, publishers want to see returns on their investments.
It's a big deal for those of us who want a good game. And I think investors are bit naive to think they'll pull in any extra revenue tagging on MP. They'd get better returns on their money by improving the overall game.
That is doubtful. MP provides another revenue channel. It is doubtful there is anything else they could have added to ME3 that would have netted them as much money for as little cost. Really, I'm not sure that anything they added to the ME3 SP experience would have sold another copy of the game. Would 5 more side quests or another story quest planet have made someone go "OMG, NOW I want the game!!!!".
I'm less concerned that a tacked on MP is gonna ruin the game than more core decisions like trying to be Skyrim-lite will ruin the game.
Well speaking from personal experience, MP was the reason that me and my friends bought our copies of ME 3. Normally we would bum a game off of each other once it was completed, but the option to play with each other in a co-operative setting was the deciding factor in me and two of my best friends getting the game at launch. And we still play it off and on to this day.
Granted, I would preffer that split screen be an option (I still believe that our current gen systems could handle it) but since I was getting an engaging SP and co-operative; and well done (IMO); MP I couldn't complain too much.
I know for a fact that if DA:I had mutiplayer announced that my friends and I would each be getting a copy to play alongside each other.

THis has had hundreds of threads and beaten to death with a dead horse... I hope they add my ideas Ive posted a billion times about MP and Co-Op as well, but BSN seems to live under a prehistoric rock and hate interaction with other sentient life, so who knows if they'll add MP/Co-op if its based on BSN's feedback. The'yre too afraid that having a 2nd option will ruin the 1st option...
I will unreservedly agree with the first part of your post. People should really stop posting threads about this. It neever goes anywhere.
I unequivocally disagree with everything else you said. I hope they don't add any of your ideas for MP or Co-op (I don't know what your ideas were, I just know that MP in any form will significantly tarnish the game as MP without exception caters to the lowest common denominator). I am not living under a prehistoric rock, nor do I hate interaction with other sentient life. If I did, I wouldn't be here on the Bioware Social Network. Nor would I be on any of the other half dozen social networking sites I have accounts on. But wanting to engage in discussion with other like minded (or unlike minded) individuals about a game(s) I like, is light years from wanting to play that game with others. Experience with World of Warcraft and another one (which I forget the name of, it was a number of years back) has proven that no good can come from providing people with another avenue by which to troll others.

Bioware is very accomplished at making memorable and engaging stories, and they are also quite capable of making compelling co-operative MP, as long as they can avoid the pitfalls that they have experienced these past couple of games; which I am more then confident that they have; then I see no reason why we can't have both.

It's not going to happen,Bioware has said that they have no intention adding a mulitplayer mode into DA:Inquisition.
Was that said over Twitter, or one of their demo presentations? I haven't heard anything of the sort, though I am not abreast of everything that is said.

I believe it was said shortly after the E3 reveal.Bioware said they wanted to focus on the story and have no intention of adding any kind of multiplayer component for the time being.Vortex13 wrote...

Now it does'nt exactly say there will be no multiplayer or not but at this point the game will likely be single player only.

Well Bioware are the ones making the game, so I defer to whatever choices they make, but I really hope that they are able to work in MP someway in DA:I's development.

Let us establish the lore, the gameplay properly before throwing a MP element into it.
I am not against MP in DA. On the contrary, I support it. Just not now.
Bioware needs to establish the DA franchise as well as themselves after the multiple flops they made in the past.
They should do MP maybe in Dragon Age 5.

I think that the setting of DA has remained fairly consistent through out the series, and the gameplay mechanics of the Pre-Alpha build of the PAX demo looked pretty amazing. I'm not saying that Bioware should cut corners and not give us a well done SP story, but it does seem to me that they are moving right along with the development, and the game appears to be shaping up nicely.
Also, if the recent 'flops' as you put it are an idication that Bioware should focus on things that work and were successful, then MP was one of those successes. I get that some people are leery of MP, but if Bioware is going to focus on the things that they do well, then I would say that MP (ME 3, SWTOR, BG, NWN) should be included in that list.
Waiting for two other games before MP? NOOOOOOO!
But seriously, I think that MP could be done with this title and have it done well, and not diminish the SP side of things. Maybe not at launch, but a MP DLC/Expansion, now that would be interesting.

I know that a couple of the developers have mentioned that the process of creating specializations is a demanding task, and that it is possible that some fan favorites might not make it into the new game. Multiplayer could allow us to play as a Shapshifter, or Arcane Warrior again; since the core foundation of such a mode would not be as demanding as the juggling act of the single player side of things.

No multiplayer. ME3's MP totally killed it in my opinion and I hated that you NEEDED to look for war assests across the galaxy and ****.

I agree. The need to play MP in order to obtain everything in SP was a very poor decision, but have MP in and of itself does not mean that it would be required to earn everything in SP.
If anything, Bioware could turn the whole thing around, they could have SP be required for MP. They could have specific specilizations or characters/races be unavailable for unlock until the player has achieved them in SP.

Well at this point Bioware has done more medieval fantasy RPGs with multiplayer than without it. I'd personally like to see them continue that.
Same here.
I loved the co-op on Baulder's Gate, and Never Winter Nights.

mp like in me3 would be nice, but without any impact on the solo game (war asset, ending), also drop the random "buying item
+ 1
In fact I would propose giving players the option to specifically buy what they want (albeit at an increased cost) from the store; its more fleshed out in my OP; but esentially an option to unlock a particular character or item, at 200% to 400% more cost (in-game currency) then the random packs would be an exceptable compromise IMO.
