Then too bad?
I'm sure you'll be able to make some pro-mage decisions as the Inquisitor.

No probably not, since the character you will play is called the Inquisitor by others, your entire role in the game is to lead the Inquisition, and the game is called Dragon Age Inquisition.

Besides, I'm assuming that circumstances will give your protagonist the required motivation and reasons to do what he does.
And who knows, you might get your wish *in addition* to being the inquisitor.

There should totally be an option to say "No" to the job and get the game over screen 10 minutes in if you do.
Or better: Roleplay that you are infiltrating the Inquisition for the mages!

What if I want to become the leader of the Mages on the ongoing conflict war between the seekers/templars.. Will we have the opportunity to choose this option, and give the Inquisitor postion to one of our companions like Cassandra?
If you don't want to be an Inquisitor then don't buy the game.

I loved it when old RPGs did this. "Do you want to do the totally obvious primary quest?" "No." BAD END.
Besides, the mages already have leaders. So do the Templars. Unlike the reforming Inquisition, they're not waiting for some newbie PC to walk up and take over.

Games always frame their protagonists as SOMETHING. Some games do less than others, but I think their story usual suffers and/or is very different from Bioware's stories (i.e. they let you create the story in your imagination but not much actually happens in the game story-wise).

Just be aware that may cut you off from other options such as those involving templars/pro-templars.But it's your game and your choice.

But I plan on buying the gameI just want more options to choose from, not being force to do something that I don't want to do.
Yeah but its kinda like buying The Witcher and not wanting to play as Geralt. You either play the role or you don't get the game. Another is to play DA:O and not want to be the warden.

You'll help the mages more from that position. You'll have privileges that no other organization has, not even the wardes.
You will also be able to rise an army that can assist the mages, so more troops for the mages cause.
You'll most likely be able to execute certain individuals, so you might be able to execute individuals that play a huge part in the elimination and capture of mages. And guess what ? Besides their grunts no one will bat an eyelid.
In the end, it will be better for the mages than if you are their leader.

The demons will kill your family 1 hours in the game and then you'll recreate The Inquisition to revenge their death.

My Dalish Warden did NOT want to leave his clan with this strange human and become a Warden. AND he was grieving over the loss of Tamlen. I loved how he can state again and again that he WASN'T going, but Duncan would patiently explain that he HAD to go. Eventually, even Duncan loses patience and basically says, you come or you die, idiot lol
