Okay..I'm still trying to wrap my head around this question...Dragon Age is a narrative you should have known that going into the game.Of which your character is already on the path doing something. You are gonna be a Grey Warden no ifs ands or buts. You are going to fight the Archdemon and the Blight. The only thing you have control of is how you do it. This isn't a free roaming game where you run around in a fantasy world doing whatever you please. Play Elder scrolls if you want that. Elder scrolls you can ignore the plot completely and live your day as a woodsman. You can't here. You are on a per-determined path of which you cannot avoid...when you can but that's turning the game off. You are the Inquisitor out to repair the fade tear. You are the Grey Warden out to stop the Archdemon. You are Commander Shepard out to defeat the Reapers. That is what narratives are. What you get to do is decide how you achieve it.

"What if I didn't want to buy the potion? What apout quests?"

(Sorry. Had to be done.)

(PS. OP, I'm not comparing you to axman13. And, for the record, I absolutely love axman13's review. It's so fervent. :D Which is obvs why the voice works so well. :P)

What if I want to become the leader of the Mages on the ongoing conflict war between the seekers/templars.. Will we have the opportunity to choose this option, and give the Inquisitor postion to one of our companions like Cassandra?

Too bad.

Being the Inquisitor is what the game is about, you don't have total freedom in a constructed story.

Despite the fact that we're likely be able to express our stance (well, if you are pro-mage or pro-templar. I hope for a neutral stance, but I'm not sure we'll get to express it), I think that a lot of people are going to be disappointed about the portrayal of the mage-templar war, and the influence of the PC in it.

I'm sure you'll be able to play a pro-mage inquisitor, OP. Your role is defined but your decisions aren't. Have fun playing!

No. Nor will you get the option to become an Orlesian cheese maker... naturally, there are limits to the number of choices that can be offered to the player.

But thats what I want to become, an Orlesian cheese maker. Why am I forced to become this big hero that everybody will have to depend on to solve their problems? I was a servant boy in DAO, DA2 and now DA3. All I ever wanted to do in my DA life is to start a business, get married and raise a family, and I've been rejected these things. I just want to make some money and screw everyone else.

I hear ya. I keep hoping for the option to become a tevinter pastery chef because deep down all I want to do is make dark, dangerous, and delectable, desserts. =] I could bring the Qunari to there knees with one really good batch of cookies.

I want to become the best pastery chef in Thedas. My ultimate goals for this is to make every single Templar and Seeker morbidly obese so I can free my brethren in each Circle.  With the templars/Seekers super fat they can't chase us down, even if they have our phylacteries.

Us mages don't need blood magic... we'll just poison the templars with sugary junk food, thats all.

Sure, you can say no and the rest of the game is a farming simulator until some demons show up and kill you.

To be fair, DAO actually lets you refuse the offer to become a Grey Warden.

Duncan just uses the Rite of Conscription to nab you anyway, so tough luck.

Maybe you can be a professional puppeteer instead? And leave the position to someone who actually have guts?

Seriously, not be the inquisitor... ._.

I must admit, part of me is really looking forward to roleplaying a Pro-Chantry Kossith Mage. After all, compared to what the followers of the Qun do, the circle system looks like a much better alternative. Of course there are Templars that go too far, but the same can be said for the mages, and my Kossith has ever intention of dealing with both harshly. Even better, I can use the ‘Keep’ to create a world where Anders survived, allowing my Qunari mage to (hopefully) hunt him down and bring him in to face my fair judgment for his actions.

I promise to give him a fair hearing.

Honestly, even though I no longer follow the Qun, it’s obvious you people of Thedas need a strong hand to guide you, and save you from yourselves.

If you don't want to become an Inquisitor then simply don't buy the game. Problem solved.

I hope that i will able express my unwillingness to become inquisitor and in the end leave like warden.

I hope that i won't be forced play "i love inquisition duty is important" i prefer play independent characters and i hope that won't be 2 dialogue option "i love duty" and "i love burn puppies" ...

Then you become Alistair. You'll have to go along with whatever the man-in-charge decides, even if you disagree w/ it.

And if it's something you won't compromise on, you die, because the leader gets the plot-armor.

THE END!!

They'll force you to, whether you want it or not. I never wanted to be a Warden in DA:O. Bloody Duncan with his right of conscription.

I will be playing as a Qunari using the role of Inquistor to weaken Thedas for a Qunari invasion via mustering the Theda's armies against the Demonic forces. As I have all their armies in another location the Qunari will simultaneously take over the major strongholds that were left defenseless/ greatly weaken defense. It will be a glorious day for all Qunari.

But I do have one issue with all that, not sure the Qun will accept a Qunari Female Mage.

Make your own game.

It'll cost you upwards of 20 million dollars.
