The big question is - What was supposed to be there?
It's the only closed off cluster in the game by the end of Mass Effect 3. What are the possibilities?
1)Cancelled DLC - An unlikely scenario. They planned the DLC as they went along. They had a plan for Leviathan, Omega, and a special type of DLC based on feedback (Citadel). Still, there's always a possibility, even if it's a small one. However, there really isn't anything interesting in the Hawking Eta cluster. You could argue a Randall Ezno DLC but that's an Iron Monkey Studios character and he's already reflected in Cerberus Escapees War Asset.Second, more likely, there was a cancelled bonus mission in the ipod game. Third, there are no files in the game hinting at a cancelled DLC whatsoever. So concerns should be put to rest on this possibility.
2)War Assets that Were Cut from the Game - This is a far more plausible option as we have in-game file evidence. There is a thread that shows leaked war assets. A couple that come to mind right off the bat are Cerberus Flotilla, and Element Zero Core. The list of all intended assets are in this thread:

When we look at Hawking Eta, we see 5 systems. 2 of them could have these assets while the other 2 have salvage, intel, or fuel. This is consistent with how other random clusters that open up behave. Thus, I draw the conclusion that option 2 is more likely because a)We have potential evidence, b)The evidence fits. and c)There is no evidence that option 1 is likely.
What are your thoughts on the Hawking Eta cluster? I think I'm pretty spot on here but I'm always open to a different opinion.
