So I just recently started playing ME3 (late to the party, I know) and have hit something of a snag in my fun. I'm trying to get the Barrier bonus power for my Shepard, but it seems to be bugged and won't unlock. I checked the wiki and it says I just need to talk to Kaidan in the hospital after the mission Priority: Palaven. Did that, went through every diolog option, no barrier. The only thing I can think is that I didn't immedantly go back to the Citidel after that mission, but instead grabbed the war assets in that system first and might have done a side mission there...can't remember fully.

So that's my issue. I want barrier but it is either bugged or I screwed up. Suggestions?

Well aren't you guys helpful. Over twenty views and nobody can throw out a "you have to start over" or "it actually unlocks at X" comment. Thanks for that; I'll remember you guys are good for nothing if I ever have another issue.

If you have the spare time to read someone's forum post you have the time to make a legit response. That said are you really so god damned stupid that you A; think I didn't already google it, and B; didn't bother to read my post where I said that I already looked up the infomation and that the listed location and methoid are WRONG?

You'll have to forgive me for assuming that people who have been playing this game for a year would just know something so basic and be able to take five seconds to tell me. How long did it take you to ready that troll link? A lot longer I'd bet.

If you scroll down a bit from the forum home (the one that shows all the games and it's subforums), you should see two sections: one is called ''Mass Effect 3 Answer HQ Technical Support'' and the other is ''Mass Effect 3 Gameplay, Strategy & Builds Discussion (Spoilers allowed)''.

Check both forums (gameplay first though, since it seems more related to your problem). Search for your issue or post a new thread.

As for solutions, the only thing I can reccommend is try to load a previous save and try and follow the instructions you found on the wiki.

Well at least some people here are willing to provide actual responses. And I apologize to the community (but not to domm) for the outbursts. Willful ignorance is just a hot button for me.

If you have the spare time to read someone's forum post you have the time to make a legit response.

But you don't want a that kind of response ("Huh, I don't rightly know."), so either you have to wait for someone who happens to know the answer off the top of his head to read your post (i.e. stop whining getting less replies than views) or for someone with too much time on their hands to google the answer for you.

I've googled the answer already myself. The reason I am posting this here is because google is wrong. Or rather doesn't know. Every single guide I've come aross through google and on this forum has just been a "tips for proper use" guide that gave zero information regarding actually getting the skill. The only place that actually lists how to get the skill was objectively wrong.

I'm not new to the internet, and I wouldn't be here if the solution was as simple as "just google it." Contrary to what a lot of people believe google doesn't have all the anwsers to everything.

First off, don't get too agitated over AlexMBrennan, this is just how he is towards everyone. I'd recommend not wasting time on replying to him, as you won't get an answer you'll like no matter what you write :-) secondly, I admit I was one of those 20 views that didn't amount to a reply. The truth is, I simply don't know. You unlock a dozen bonus powers throughout the game and I honestly had no idea you got Barrier from speaking to Kaidan. The only thing I knew of was Reave because a friend needed help unlocking that. Also, keep in mind that this is a companion that doesn't even exist in many people's game (depending on their choice on Virmire), which makes it further difficult to provide answers.
The best I can offer is a tentative reassurance that doing a side mission or two shouldn't lock you out of a conversation with Kaidan on the Citadel. I'm saying 'tentative' because I can't say with 100 % certainty that I'm right, but I think I am. Which means you've encountered a bug, I guess?

There are a couple of options available for you. One is to restart your current playthrough or start up a 2nd one (all bonus powers are unlocked across all your characters, so you could start a new game and just blast through it on easiest difficulty). Another is using the program called 'Gibbed's Save Editor' to manually unlock the bonus power for your current character. I don't think this will actually unlock the power on your account, it's more like hacking into your savefile and tweaking it from within. That's all I can think of at the moment, anyway :-)

Hope you enjoy ME3!

well mate. I was quite obviously telling you that you'll attract more flies with honey than with vinegar. I have no idea what your problem is and frankly I don't care. So, grow up a bit, stop expecting someone else to solve your garganuan problems and don't get upset when someone trolls your obnoxious behavior on BSN.

peace
