When I play video games, I'm not particularly interested in who my enemies are dating... It's strange enough seeing things that your PC isn't present for, and thus having knowledge beyond personal experience. Having intimate details about the antagonist is not only unnecessary, it's also unrealistic, unless you see this person often... like in the case of a traitor or double agent.

of course it is "interesting" - if you plan on having intrigue, taking of hostages (what better hostage then the loved one of the enemy?), bribing people, spying on then, poisoning them (having them poisoned - not doing everything yourself, are you?) or having them killed/assassinated otherwise :) (hiring the crows, sending agents after them etc.)

so yes, please let me get to know my enemy (if i wish to) before going in for the kill (maybe i can talk them down, force them to give up, threaten them more effectively etc.)

greetings LAX

Real villians would not care if you took their bed fellows hostage. They can get another one.

If I was an immoral assassin in real life, and killed people for money without caring for who they were. And then fell madly in love with a woman, that meant the world to me - and then she got captured by someone - I would risk my life to save her.

Point taken? :P

If a boy steals food to survive is he evil? Isnt stealing an evil act?

Evil and good are never absolutes in black and white.

I know. Just it seems to me after being on these boards its like people want Romance to be the main theme of the game. Like they want Gameplay or characters that you don't romance to be second to Romance. Romance is fine in a game, just if it's not the main focus, not a lot of time should be dedicated to it.

You know what? I personally would actually love a story that properly focused on romance. A path in the plot that would make the romance very important and relevant to the main campaign and possibly warped it into somewhat different direction. I enjoy a good love story.

Yeah, that woulkd be pretty interesting, provided it's an actual game and not a visual novel.

It's a nice thought, but II would not look to Bioware for that. doubt the market for such a thing would be large enough for it. Just enjoy the story and gameplay.

Maybe because the final fantasy games before FFX were actually good? Did you even play them? Only bad final fantasy games imo is FFX and all that followed it.

Thing is, sometimes you don't even need a very big shift to make the story work. And yet you can still make it very meaningful.

Have you ever played NWN2?
