I like to imagine my rogue Hawke had a nice thing going on with him while she worked for Athenril for a year. Other than that, I have to say Cullen, since every time I played a female mage warden in dao I always wondered where that could've gone.

To be honest Varric should be one for female Hawke and Aveline for male Hawke. They seem to fit better into Hawke's story personally. Also then it is not just about looks, but personality aswell. Atleast i found Aveline to be very interesting and Varric to be very charming. Also no romanceable dwarves yet is kinda bad.

Aveline for me I liked Isabella & Merril but I absolutely loved Aveline after my first playthrough I stopped playing DA2 all together because I refused to pair Aveline and that loser Donnic up.
When I did eventually go back i refused to allow the marriage and my Hawke stayed single as well.
They should have let Hawke marry Aveline instead of Donnic I can honestly say I have beaten DA2 3 times and thats more than I expected after the first one but had I been able to marry Aveline I would have played that game a whole hell of alot more.

Bethany needs to come back in a future game so another protagonist can romance her, she was an awesome character. I wish we didn't have to lose her after Act 1, or be forced to have Carver (aka Buzzkillington) if we're playing as Mage Hawke.
Aveline needed to be a romance option as well, I felt that she had far more chemistry with Hawke than with that dull drip known as Donnic. I always got the subtle vibe that Hawke and Donnic secretly hated each other and only put up with each other because of Aveline.
And Varric should have been on as well, natch. We've had a profound lack of Dwarven love interests thus far in the games, when we've had numerous human and elven LI or even one night stands. Throw us a bone and give us another Varric or Bianca (or just Varric and Bianca) to romance!
