 I finally began my 'dark' dude dalish..... and was just curious is ranger a good enough spec for an archer? Or should I just pick bard?

The only worthwhile talent I think is the bard tree is the song of courage, and I've never used ranger as a spec ever.......

So I was just curious to everyone whose played a rouge archer, what their thoughts were :wizard:

The only thing Ranger does is summon (I think you also get some nature resistance). The summon is handy as it can be your melee presence while you sit back and sling arrows but that's all it does.

So it's not as good as the bard songs eh? Do they stack? if I use Leliana and a PC Bard?

Por que no los dos?

Assassin doesn't offer an archer anything, and dueling isn't great for one. Meanwhile a lot of people shy away from ranger because it's kind of hard to actually quantify the usefulness of the pet. That doesn't mean it's bad though.

Songs semi-stack. For all non-bards, they will stack. However, the last person to activate their song will override any previous songs. So in a hypothetical PC bard, leliana, alistair, morrigan party, alistair, morrigan and whichever bard activates SoC first will receive both SoCs, and whichever activates it second will receive only theirs (similarly if you have 3 bards, the first will get all 3, the second 2, and last only one).

Ranger is quite good for an archer. However there are some nuisances. The summon deactivates on area transition which can be irritating given the high cooldowns and the summoning interval. The bear sometimes gets stuck in doorways, which can be funny and sometimes not when it becomes a hindrance to your mobility. Also there's no way to save tactics for the pet. If you can live with these, then Ranger is a pretty good spec for increasing your damage output and to make your party look a bit more weird. Also 'dark'.

If you are going full CUNN, then Bard along with Duelist help with the attack bonus, which is worth considering.

Yup I planned to go full cunn. I tried a cunn dagger rogue and it was pretty cool over my normal strategy of dex based rogues

I'm doing a dalish archer, so for rp purposes I'lll pick ranger to leliana's bard first

Now which bow is the best? I narrowed it down to mage's eye or falon's reach....

Far Song or the Sorrows of Arlathan(Leliana's Song). Out of the two you've mentioned, I'd probably go with Falon'Din's Reach, because of rapid aim and the damage bonus.

It sucks, I don't have Song, or WH dlc. Wish I did, I'd want that battledress light armor

falon's bow? Ok. Wish Origins offered more bow options. I had tons of options for my dagger rouge

How's this for my gear set up?

* shadow of the empire/felon's coat
* Falon's bow
* bard's dancing shoes
* city to the city
*harvest festival ring
*honneleath helm
*pushback striders

Far song isn't a DLC item. You get it from the replacement blacksmith at redcliffe if owen dies. So your DE might have to be a bit of a dick, or else tragically not find his daughter before talking to connor (or use a mod that makes owen sell far song)

I love summoning creatures in the Ranger spec. You need more than one on your belt thingy for when they unsummon.

I don't know how people afford the far song bow I sure can't afford it. I always use falon'din's reach.

I'd use Cadash Stompers for boots and Red Jenny Seekers for the gloves. Pushback Strikers is pretty solid though.
