Doing another run through ME1 to set up a new Shepard.

Tabitha Shepard grew up on Mindoir and led the assualt on the slaver base on Torfan. So when she heard that Geth had attacked Feros she made that her first priority. She was determined that the same thing that happened to Mindoir not happen to Feros. It was also a confirmed report of Geth activity (unlike the reports about Noveria) so it was likely Saren would be there.

After the Feros mission Kaiden recommended going to find Liara T'Soni since she might know more about the Protheans and help us understand the Cipher we recieved on Feros. So off we went to Therum.

After Therum the Council let us know that a recon unit investigating Saren's activities had tried to signal on a high priority channel. Though there was no solid information on what they had found, the fact that they were investigating Saren and had tried to report in using a mission critical frequency made Virmire the next logical destination

Having just finished Virmire the question is where to go next. Based on the information provided by the Beacon in Saren's lab, Liara has informed Shepard that the Conduit is on Ilos. Unfortunately, the only way to get to Ilos is through the Mu Relay and no one knows where that is. (Actually, does tnat make any sense? Does this mean the Ilos relay only connects to the Mu Relay? And how do we know that? Liara may know about Ilos through pictures and vids she has seen, but how does she know which relay its system's relay connects to?)

From a meta-gaming perspective I know that the location of the Mu Relay can be found on Noveria. But from an RP perspective my only motivation for going to Noveria is rumors of Geth activity, not even confirmed sightings. It seems more likely that Shepard might find something of interest in the Armstrong Cluster since she was able to hack a Geth terminal on Feros with intel on a Geth invasion planned for that cluster.

It seems to me one of the characters should have recommended checking out Noveria.

Try doing both noveria and feros before getting Liara for some funny dialogue.  If you haven't already.  Ya know, just for kicks.  Or can checkout vids

Being a risk to a human colony might be another incentive.  Although it always feels like running out to save a pack of backstabing mobsters, to me.  I tend to go there first, in order to use the shop.

I think that captain Anderson's comments on noveria tend to make me want to go there first.  With its promise of weapons and armour tech, and troublesome people(as per Anderson).  I'm usually inclined to go there before noveria  to secure better stuff for my squad and unravel rich shady peoples secrets.  Besides, someone's got to be funding saren's activities.  What better place to find crazy wealthy cut throats, than noveria?
Otherwise, I'd have to agree that story wise, there doesn't seem to be much urgency or Intel provided to push players in that direction.

Can't say I've ever done a play through in the order you've done, that I recall.  Have to say, I'm a bit envious of your immersive style ;).

:EDIT:  NEED FEROS, NOVERIA AND VERMIRE done before getting Liara for unique dialogue.

Not sure what else they really needed to do. The lead you are going on is Geth activity in the Traverse, and in the beginning they tell you they activity is near Feros and Noveria. After going to Feros, you might as well check out Noveria. I don't think you need any more motivation regardless of the order you play them in. It is simply the only other place you can go to try and find a clue.

Well, Tabitha ended up going to the Armstrong Cluster to check out the Geth there, but she didn't find anything about the Mu Relay. So then we headed over to the Horsehead Nebula because that is where Noveria is. But before going to Noveria we checked out the Strenusus System because someone on the Citadel had told us their brother had gone missing there. When we finally did get to Noveria we found out Matriarch Benezia was there, so we tracked her down and got the info on the Mu Relay from her. (We also tried, unsuccessfully, to find a way to strangle Mira. Unfortunately, there was no way to turn her virtual a** into actual dust.)

We have now landed on Ilos (after some hot, steamy, blue sex and a few dances with Doran) and are racing to beat Saren to the Conduit.

Holy crap! Tabitha just renegaded Saren to salvation! I didn't even know you could get Saren to off himself. Usually I don't invest in persuasion skills, but this time I put like 9 or 10 points in intimidate. So now all that is left is to kill Sovereign and then the Council. Really, Tabitha is not a bad person, she is just hyper-focused on succeeding at the mission. :)

Yep, Charm or Intimidate. It is I think the second highest intimidate in the game maybe.
