This is a really stupid idea. Things like Image IPB this happens all the time. Why should I get punished because my 3 other teammates are incapable of helping me with objectives.

That would mean that I would get booted from every lobby above Silver, so I'm not in favor of it.

Don't people get randomly troll kicked and invited back in most of our lobbies anyway?

Don't mind some penalty for failure although it's a bit hard to reconcile with dodgy connections / Origin etc. No penalty is saying "can never lose". Something like little / no XP or money gained for a wipe might be better.

So if you failed once, your odds of failing again go way up because you have a lower leveled character. That sounds...awful.

I'm not sure why a penalty is desirable at all, beyond the standard "mission failed, no credits/exp for you". Games are supposed to be enjoyable. Challenging is fine, but punishing is not fine.

No because if you can't handle gold with a level one you go and play bronze.

There is no real challenge is there, there is no real tense moments to extract at all.  Heck people had to be bribed to not just lay down after wave 10 because there was no incentive at all to extract.  There is virtually no bad result for the player if you wipe.  If anything the last wave would be a lot more enjoyable and tense if there was some form of viable penalty.  Don't like the back to level one?  (Which is logical, your level 20 guy died they have to bring in a new recruit) then what else could there be to make extraction important?

And now you're forcing players to play a difficuty they don't want. A game should never make a player do something they don't want. If it does, people will stop playing, which is counter productive, especially in a cooperative game. Again, there's a big difference between rewarding for success, and punishing for failure.  The former is acceptable, the latter is not.

Stupid idea then, stupid idea now. There should never be an actual penalty for failure. There are rewards for winning and the "penalty" for losing is you don't get any rewards.

Penalizing failure just promotes elitism, makes winning more important than fun, and generally creates a restrictive system.

LOL, in case you haven't noticed there is already a ton of elitism, winning is important unless you feel its fun to die.  You make a few comments like creates a restrictive system but don't elaborate at all.

The rewards for winning are pitence once you get to a certain point.  Biower pls had to give a bribe to people half way through the game to actually get people to even attempt to extract.  A penalty works just as well as a bribe except it's far more logical.

Your team all failed, thus they died, thus they have to be replaced.  Play better and extract.  :)

I didn't realise we needed so much tension in a friendly cooperative game.

You think you see a lot of Juggernauts and GT's now? Imagine if wiping carried that penalty ...

Edit: I like the previous suggestion by others of wagering a set amount of credits for every difficulty above Bronze .. like 5K for Silver and 20K for Gold .. bet you'd even get those cheap ass PUGs using consumables.

These totals would be returned on any mission sucessful screen, as well as the credits acrued during that match

That's a great idea. Then when I get disconnected or invisible enemies or join on wave 10 with three corpses in the hack circle I not only lose my equipment but $20k as well.

I see, so the same forum that has railed against low level characters leeching on higher levels has a sudden change of heart if it may affect them?

Why is punishment for failure unnacceptable?  It's there in everything we do.  As I said before if this was a design decision from day one in this game there would be an acceptance of the toughness of the game and people would play accordingly.

I get ticked off when I don't extract and extra ticked if the team wipes.  It has nothing to do with the fact I've lost a few thousand exp and a few thousand credits, its because I failed the object of the game.

Pick better companions.  Funny in this post you are blasting that fact that there are players obviously not ready for Plat because they can't carry their weight and other threads are saying the people should be able to play any level they wish and getting put back to level one would force into levels they don't want.

All the while it takes about 3 or 4 matches to get back up to level 20 for the good players right?

Challenge is fun for the top players no?  People go out of their ways to create challenge in this game.  Next time we see a group of great players doing the thunderdome the obvious question must be 'Why?'.

Just because you can't carry three pugs that are trying to drag you down into defeat.....:D

I would say to Beerfish's idea I would revise it. Either you get some credits or no credits. Dead men don't get paid.

What about new players? Win three games of Bronze - Get to level 10 - Wipe next game - Back to level 1.

Who cares screw those noobs.

And before anyone gets their panties in a twist I was being sarcastic. I play with the lower level players some. Totally shower afterwards though.

I will take you seriously if after every one of your failures, you promote and start over from lvl 1.

Makes us believe what you believe, otherwise you're just a troll.

Pick better companions? Do you even know how PUGs work? Being reset to level 1 because of stupid teammates would be a great way to ensure that I uninstall the game asap.

Absolutely agreed. I would trade the game in so fast if I got punished for PUG's stupidity.

This penalty would completely kill the whole concept of playing PUGs, which would seriously fragment the playerbase.
