Sorry to raise this thread from the dead, but I have a question that didn't really warrant its own thread:
 
Has anyone ever tried using Concussive Arrows with light melee (spread shot) as a ghetto version of Ballistic Blades?  Do the arrows still ragdoll mooks, or do they at least have enough force to stagger?  If so, it could be an interesting play style.
 
I can try it myself, but if the answer is no, I don't want to bother.

I do use it as a scatter shot and it's very effective at close range, whether it be Husks, Abominations that won't leave you alone on a berserk Collector Captain out for blood.

Scatter shot is really for defensive purposes.

It can be used on Phantoms as well, for a small stagger.

You're getting around 800+ newtons per charged arrow in a volley of six. One arrow will stagger most infantry, two which usually at least two will hit will stagger even a phantom. They will not knock her ass into orbit like a charge one will though.

 

The way I soloed plat originally was with concussive instead of AP because Cain mines are awesome and concussive arrows require no investment in melee to be effective at staggering the hell out of stuff.

I use the concussive arrows with light melee sometimes as a panic button, and they do indeed ragdoll most enemies, most of the time.

 

I don't know how many arrows need to hit to get the ragdoll effect though, like I said, I get it most of the time, but not always.

That might be due to playing him off-host most of the time though.

 

Even with only 3 points in Concussive arrows and no points at all in passives, one volley still has 500N, which is potentially enough to stagger any mook other than a dragoon, even on platinum.

Just to ask, where is salmon and zae uploading the vids? are they going to post them on the BSN or do I need to run to youtube and hunt them down?

 

I really like to watch other people play the Mercenary, lately it's been a lot of mine spam, but i am not interested in that. I look forward to seeing more talon mercenary vids.

They're absolutely hilarious and pretty effective against certain enemies. I made a Centurian bounce off the canopy of an Atlas the other night. You can pull off some pretty hilarious ragdolls with them.
