Hello. I've decided to do another run-through of Origins-Awakening-DA2, as a classic mage. I tried Arcane Warrior once, but it was too easy that it became boring.
Right now I'm just at lothering, level 7 or so, playing Leliana as an archer, Sten, Alistair and myself as a glass canon. Most of my spells are in the prima Cold and Lightning lines, and some for paralysis. The thing is, everytime I use one of my bigger guns, the AoE damage spells, all enemies target my mage and she goes down in a few strikes, even if I redirect all my companions to protect her.
So how should this cladd be played, when it receives so much aggro?
And are there, in general, good tips on how to organize the party strategy? How to select targets? Anything specific, really? I feel as if I'm just 'winging it', not really understanding the benefit of different items, of Armor vs Defense, and stuff like that.
P.S.
I have that Raven mod that allows me to rebuild at any moment, so nothing is set in stone, neither for my main or my characters.

It is mostly about directing aggro towards the most durable team member, typically the tank, and keeping him/her alive for as long as possible. A warrior tank can use talents like threaten and taunt to gain aggro, while your mage warden can cast Mind Blast if she bites off more than she can chew. Casting Glyph of Repulsion on her position can also be handy. If you want to read up, you would find detailed info on stuff like threat management, tactics, combat and ability mechanics, and pretty much all things dragon age in the wiki. Might also wanna check the sticky in the classes and build section here.
