I'm frustrated that ME3 didn't learn its lesson IMO

Considering Alpha Protocol and Fallout New Vegas, I already do.

Y'know, not worship. But yeah.

Mmmm, Alpha Protocol.

Was disappointed to learn the Kickstarter they're planning for spring won't be for AP2.

Praising developers, then they make a few bad games and it's the end of the world.

More than 90% will end up getting the next title, lol.

And it largely did... for the issues that were complained about being too unclear. Unfortunately for you and the other dozen people who've been spinning their wheels for the last two years, Shepard's survival in high-EMS destroy wasn't ambiguous to most- the issue was that you could only get the scene through multiplayer. EC fixed that, and added more narrative cues that had the rest of the player base go 'okay, I get that Shepard survives,' and carry on.

What cues would those be?  the inexplicably Force-sensitive LI?  If anything it reinforces Unpleasant Implications by showing a memorial service with Anderson's name already on the baord.  there is litrally one person in the entire galaxy who hasn't written Shepard off.  Reinforced by that identical scene of Shepard alone, hurt, and no hlp in site.  No sign that anyone in-system was even bothering to search.

Yeah, I figure that's exactly what Dean meant. I don't know why you get unpleasant implications out of that while we don't. It's not like you don't actually know better, of course.... but knowing ain't feeling, and I do get that you aren't feeling it.

The more I think about this, the more I wonder if you shouldn't put a bit of blame on Getorex. He was the standard-bearer for the "breath clip doesn't matter" position on this board  pre-EC, and his unhinged ranting tended to discredit any position he was associated with. I didn't realize any rational person took his position until after the EMS fix.

I'd suggest just saying the breath scene simply sucks. Not that it's so ambiguous as to not even be understood.

They can also pop up and take up most of the screen so they don't miss them.

We can call it word of God mode, it is below Story mode in terms of difficulty and will hold your hand through all major plot occurences to prevent people for complaining on the BSN for two years.

Am I wrong in thinking that Mass Effect: Pop-Up Video Edition would be kind of hilarious?

If you want to blame anyone, blame MrFob, who managed to create an in-game memorial scene with Shepard in it putting up Anderson's name.

I agree that the whole game of ME3 was a letdown way beite the ending masked all that, With the same people in charge( Mac/Casey ) along with a gears of war producer and the ME3 MP team making the game then i truly wont be pre-ordering or buying brand new, Too many games will be out by then to be enjoyed, The whole thing with ME was we wanted to finish our story and in particular shepard. Alot of that goodwill and what not will be gone by the time the new ME comes out and personally i feel Bioware are nowhere near the level they was at years ago.

I'll await the inevitable pre-release jargon they'll spout and sites like IGN going overboard with it all.

With open worlds being the new type of games on next gen it shall be interesting the approach they take with ME as corridor shooting and fetch quests surely cant be even thought of let alone implemented.

I don't follow you. Did Mr. Fob suddenly make you realize what your problem was or something?

No, demonstrated that this problem was entirely surmountable. A decent "reunion" scene was entirely possible, and wasn't a just futile dream of a disappointed fanbase.

The ending lacked silliness. Just face the facts. The ending was stupid. The NG+ ending should have had the REAL ending: Shepard says something like "I've heard about all the bulls*** I can handle for one day." Then (s)he picks up glowboy and boots him off into space - of course you hear him screaming even though it is a vacuum. Then Shepard walks up to a console in the middle and pushes a button and all the reapers just blow up. There's no big animation of the Crucible firing in different colors and the relays exploding; none of that crap - just the reapers blow up. Shepard pulls out a cigarette and lights it, and calls Joker for a pickup. Cut to credits with some upbeat electronica/techno music. And when the credits are done, with the music still going, Bioware made a blooper reel of stuff like the TIM conversation with Shepard messing up their dialogue; Kai Leng cracking up at how bad his lines are; Liara protesting that Ashley knows that they're Prothean and she doesn't; stuff like that, and make it random so it's different each play.

Happy ending? No. It's a fun, stupid ending, and I think people would have forgiven a lot of the flaws of the game.

Agreed

Putting some morbid ending that demanded to be taken deadly seriously on to the end of a soft sci-fi space opera, really was asking for trouble. I might have taken all this philosophical musing on organic / synthetic relations more seriously if I hadn't just been fighting magic space ninjas, or building some giant Heath-Robinson super weapon that looks like Unicron's wang.

Yay, shepard is with their love interest. Now just 9,999,999 more problems to fix and the endings will be passable.

Wasn't this just totally worth the effort?

I don't know if that was ever the case really. Not when it comes to Walters' quests at least. Maybe the other writers like Weekes. Look at his history. It's often about high stakes and upping the death toll. He's always been a bit dark and morbid. Besides writing the Illusive Man and Aria, he did Bring on the Sky, Zaeed's quest, Arrival, etc.. His idea of drama is that we kill 300,000 people. Or put us in positions with a lot of collateral damage and potential innocents dying.

I think he wrote Conrad Verner though. So that's funny.

I prefer more logic to my endings, not more magic fairies appearing out of nowhere to make everything better without reason. Plenty of other films with happy endings have failed miserably.
