Would people on here kill each other if they were in Thedas?

Just wondering...

I'd probably end up being killed as my murderers claim the moral high ground.

I'm sorry, but there really is no way both mages and templars can coexist peacefully. It's human nature.

And pray tell, what do you suggest we do? Just slug it out, and see who's left standing?

You HAVE to pick a side! You can't just see what happens, you have to do something for one, over the other.

Good Samaritan laws aren't effective, and there is nothing wrong with walking away. Personally,  there's only one side that'll exist, and that's mine. Anyone who doesn't fall in line will die, mage or templar.

That's why mages are selfish. Like the dalish or the dwarfs.

Just as selfish as every other person in Thedas.

They're selfish because all they do is whine about how poor it is for them, and how their struggle is so much worse, and if people helped them everything would be fair and equal. But all their policies are nothing but self-serving, highly centric plans thst benefit them and hinder everyone else. And then they pretend they deserve that and act like they hold the moral highground.

If they were honest about what they wanted and not so self-decieving then maybe they wouldn't be so selfish.

Yes.

Pick a side to your liking and annihilate/inslave the other.

^ This is the only way and i support it.

I am not selfish.  I fully admit to being out for myself snd my own interests.  I don't mske up excuses to morally justify myself like these selfish groups do.

You are selfish, and you dont have to make any excuses. You will forever be moraly just in your own eyes, as will any other person.

Hmm. New thread, new arguments, and now we're calling each other selfish within the context of a fictional world? Where can I sign up?

I doubt I can remove feeling guilt or regret. Wont stop me from doing whst I have to though, and frankly, I wouldn't want those feelings removed or absolved or rationalized away through moral mathematics. Ill do what needs to get done, and I'll experience the consequences for whag I've done when its all over and the dust settles.

Feeling guilt or regret only makes sense when you have done something you haven't intended to do, when you have seen something for what it was not.

Admitting to being selfish does not absolve one of being selfish.   In saying that you admit to being out for yourself and your own interests, you fully admit to being selfish.  It really couldn't be clearer cut than that.

Self-interest is more fitting. Selfishness requires a delusional thought of moral justification or the mentality its the right thing to do in order to go after what you want.

Its the same differences between a psychopath snd high functioning sociopath. Subtle but definitely there.

Pshychopathy and sociopathy CAN mean one and the same thing. Unless the cause for the behavior is psychosis, then it only leaves pshychopathy.

And I don't understand your point. Are you saying that looking out for ones self is a wrong thing to do, and yet you do it? Are you constantly violating your own moral code?

Subtle difference or not, neither is something to be strived for in any case, realistic or fiction/fantasy.

In any case, if it is true for yourself, you have my utmost sincerity that I apologize for any misrepresentations on my part.

I actually support this. Face it, Thedas and mages need templars, because demons are everywhere and need to be put down, the Fade is a real threat. But I also agree that Circles and Chantry were rotting from the inside out

Hence why I'm going to try to play middleman in all of this.

I'm not saying any names but there are people on here that would be on my list if we were in Thedas 2 of them are in this thread and it won't be long before the third shows his ugly husk face.

I agree!  Why not say names?  I can't even say I would agree with you, I might disagree.

Harsher Circle for the first generation or two, slowly giving them rights to the point they were prior to the war. Fortified communities built outside of the Circles would provide shelter for Templar and Mage families who'd give up their land/holdings to the Chantry, offering the Chantry the ability to have free labor to take care of duties which Templar and Mages are too preoccupied to do and having them be warned that they're likely the first victims if an apostate/abomination rampages out.

They'd handle things like food preparation, etc.

Mages would be designated a few hours every couple of days where they're allowed to meet with their families under Templar surveillance.

Families who don't give two ****s about their kid or don't want to give up their holdings don't have to do anything.

This...ain't half bad actually.

As long as there is stricter oversight on Knight-Commanders and First Enchanters (so we have more Gregoirs and Irwings and Less Orsinos and Merediths), it would be better than the Ferelden Cricle. Probably.

IIRC; many of the rules are flexible and their enforcment depends on the Circle in question.
For example, some Circles frown upon mages marrying. Others do not.
