I already mentioned varric/aveline. Bethany and Carver are of course his siblings so god knows what sort of crap bioware would get in if they were romanceable. I suppose I did forget Sebastian but I never considered him too much of a party member as he can't join until act II and if I recall his romance is somewhat odd(never did it myself) 

And why should we not use the "realistic argument" Sure DA:O had things that were unrealistic(like Alistair potentially still romancing you even if you did things he would never agree with just because you gave him enough gifts) Does that mean we shouldn't strive for some realism in a game where story/character are very important factors? 

You are welcome to that opinion but I'd have to disagree entirely. As for Alistair sure it is concievable that he would only be interested in Humans or maybe Elves. Clearly this isn't the case but it is certainly doesn't require a huge stretch of the imagination to see why it could be. 

But the race restriciton wasn't even in DAO.

Oh look you just gave straight players 2 options and gay players 1. How nice.

Also one can show various preferences without having to waste LI slots. It also makes the NPCs feel more alive  (such as Wynne).

We shouldn't use it because it's a bad arguement. So it's okay to you for Alistair to be completely inconsistent in dislike people who display themselves to be horrible people as long as he doesn't dare like both genders?

And I say the same about the 4 bi LIs in DA2 being bi. Not that huge of a stretch of the imagination for me though it clearly is for you.

I assume you were posting on topic about the whole need for restrictions. Unless I'm wrong and that's not what you were arguing for?

Pretty sure the poster you quoted was speaking on the whole having only 4 LI options is unrealistic which...can be argued. Especially since they're all convienentely single, attractive and successful as well. (Then again most of them are bonefide insane).

As per OP: No, I don't think there should be race-based restrictions unless the character has a specific, personal reason for it.

Well, they are not humans, and what do we call non-humans? Animals. 

Humans are just smart animals. And what seperates us from other animals is what seperates them from other animals: sapience. Your analogy is pretty ridiculous:lol:
