lol ice cold.

Ah.  I had heard something about that.  On the bright side, the Ravnos Antedelluvian was destroyed by the Technocracy, after the various supernatural entities failed to bring it down.  So have some heart!  :alien:

Personally speaking, the game being "unrealistic" in that all LIs have no racial preferences doesn't break my immersion.  Skyrim didn't.  DAI won't, either.

There were like three non Nord romances in Skyrim, using the term very loosely

Ainethach     Breton

Anwen     Redguard

Athis     Dark Elf

Avrusa Sarethi     Dark Elf

Borgahk the Steel Heart     Orc

Brelyna Maryon     Dark Elf

Camilla Valerius     Imperial

Cosnach     Breton

Derkeethus     Argonian

Dravynea the Stoneweaver     Dark Elf

Gat gro-Shargakh     Orc

Ghorbash the Iron Hand     Orc

Ghorza gra-Bagol     Orc

Gilfre     Imperial

Jenassa     Dark Elf

Marcurio     Imperial

Moth gro-Bagol     Orc

Muiri     Breton

Octieve San     Breton

Omluag     Breton

Pavo Attius     Imperial

Perth     Breton

Quintus Navale     Imperial

Revyn Sadri     Dark Elf

Ria     Imperial

Romlyn Dreth     Dark Elf

Scouts-Many-Marshes     Argonian

Senna     Imperial

Shahvee     Argonian

Sondas Drenim     Dark Elf

Sorex Vinius     Imperial

Taarie     High Elf

Viola Giordano     Imperial

I think your math is a bit off.

The usual wall of text war between David and Steel with gif spamming is what I mean. Sheesh you making me explain it.

Yeah first time I saw it I kind of went "Kind of glad she's a dude now."

Atleast the fight felt like a Revan fight

It really didn't he kept charging my madness sorc and somehow after the rest of my team wiped my sorc managed to live long enough for the op healer (without roll mind) to get back to me in order for us to beat his ass.

He couldn't kill a lvl 35 sorc in 2 minutes in a 1 vs 1.

That's pathetic.

Back on topic, i hope romance is not restricted & lets players have the option of banging the companion/npc/grieving widow of their choice.

I would rather have love interests have a 'blank slate' on their sexuality and who they like. I want my male inquisitor to have a chance of romancing a male companion with his words and actions, not because he was 'programmed' that way.

The racial thing kinda ticked me off, case in point with Alistair. My elf romanced him and it was great ... until I made him king then it was all like "Oh snap girlfriend, you got pointy ears and stuff. We can't have you as a queen no way no how!"

Yeah ... NO.

Maybe a deeply racist nation wouldn't accept an elf on the throne?

So you would expect a predominately human land with human leaders to accept an elf to take over their country simply because the King is in love with her?

There's anti elven violence because of a elf being made bann, a elven queen would likely be much worse

If Bioware still has some of respect for their own creation, they will restrict the romances at least for the Qunari Inquisitor.

She's the special snowflake pc, of course they should make an exception for her.

No, because they DO have respect for their own creation, they just don't have any respect for romance limitations.

Javaris Tintop.

'Sides, I DON'T want to romance a Qunari, unless they are female. Having sex with one would depend on the character, but romance depends on me.

I don't.  But, then again, I don't care for any of the races either.

I think it'd be good for characters to have different rules. Not necessarily to exclude things completely, but make them either a topic or have special requirements. But it should also be predictable in some way and just buried in some wiki.

It's not a matter of programming a character that way but about making the character seem more real.  In the real world, people have their preferences and if you want the character to be as real as possible then he/she is going to have his/her own preferences and opinions.  You might be able to change those things but not always.

I could only imagine getting into mundane arguments with a Qunari.

"Babe, I just got out of work. I don't feel like cooking."
"The Qun demands that you do!"
"Oh, what a surprise! If you like the Qun so much, then why don't you marry it?!"

And maybe you could include something along the lines of Fallout's "idiot"-dialogues just for fun. For when you have created a really ugly character build.

This is a really bad idea.

If there were 50 romances, yeah, I could definitely see some of them being constricted to race.

But there ain't. I doubt they'll be more than a half dozen. Perhaps three for each gender. As it should be. I have little interest for what passes for romance in Skyrim.

How many options would this cut things down to for some players? One? Even zero?

No. That's ridiculous. Gaider said, point blank, that characters were all made bisexual to increase the amount of romance options available. Simple as that. And all this does is cut those options back down.

As for the characters being open minded to accept romance from any race? It's justified by Narrative Causality.

Having an Elven queen in human lands in a world like Dragon Age would've been unrealistic and would've broken the verisimilitude.

I can't believe I'm saying this, but...

Image IPB

With only 10 companions (and the likelihood of them all being romanceable being slim to none), this is simply a pretty tall order, given the romance-centrism that has manifested itself in the fanbase. This concept could be applied out to non-companion LIs, if they exist. But for companions, it becomes an issue of resources devoted such that only a small number of people even see it.

If there is going to be a digital romp in the hay, make four of them, make them omnisexual, and wash your hands of it. If you start making exclusive romances based on race, the only discourse you may have is to have LIs EVERYWHERE, which turns those cutscene romps into an even bigger ballooning of resources. Which means romances get an even bigger slice of the resource pie, not less.

Are you saying Qunari shouldn't be about to romance anyway? I don't see why they couldn't though considering our Qunari inquisitor doesn't follow the Qun.
