Assuming you're not being intentionally obtuse, which would probably be generous, what Plaintiff was talking about was choices made within the narrative, which the character creator isn't really a part of.Isn't picking your character's gender and class an in game choice? I don't remember (or maybe I got rather lucky) any copy of Dragon Age that came with a scanner that checks ones genitals and physique, then forced them into the appropriate class.

I don't consider anything to be "in-game" until I'm actually playing.
Putting your character together isn't "playing", it's like... setting up the Monopoly board and fighting over who gets to be the top hat.
Now, now Plaintiff. Everyone fights over to be the car. At least that's how things go in my house. Until we get half way through and my dad wants to play communist monopoly.

There were like three non Nord romances in Skyrim, using the term very looselyShark17676 wrote...

Well, not fun to anyone I know personally. I imagine you as the kind of person who gets endless enjoyment out of sorting his socks.

I ****ing love dressing my characters up. That **** is like crack to me. I would probably enjoy making faces in Dragon Age more if they didn't always wind up looking like Michael Jackson and Sarah Jessica Parker collided at mach speed.

I've lurked the BSN and the forum Bioware hosted before it since before the original Dragon Age was released and in that time, I've gathered character generation is an important part of the game to Sylvius and in that regard he isn't alone.
Selecting their gender and race, thinking about how the world will react to them and how they'll react to the world, what kind of weapons they'll use, where to allocate their points, the story behind why the points are allocated the way they are...it's a lot more fun than 'sorting socks'.

On topic: I don't think cases like Varric should be left out of the game. Ignoring Bianca, he's stated that he doesn't "go for humans." Which, within the context of that conversation does imply attraction, or lack thereof. But I think that the games can easily have a variety of sexual preferences featured, pertaining to race or gender, without all of them being available in the romances.
I still think Varric shouldn't be a romance option

Would you like certain romantic opportunities to be limited to the race of the PC? - Think Baldur's Gate II: Viconia could only be wooed by a half-elf or human character.

Did I say he should? I'm pretty sure I didn't. I'm perfectly happy with Varric not being a romance. And I'm perfectly happy with, while not available as a romance, Varric isn't attracted to humans.I still think Varric shouldn't be a romance option
