Given that it's looking likely that there will be a similar approach to romance gameplay as DA2, It would really restrict the options a lot.
If there are only 2 guys and 2 girls to romance, then making one of them not available because of your race means that you have knocked out 25% of the choice before even starting. Then, assuming that you are not playing as a bisexual character, you knock out another 25-50% because of gender. That means that, if you choose to engage in the romance, you are restricted to a single option (
maybe two if the racial restriction happens to fall on someone who is of the opposite gender than you are romancing).
To me, this takes alot of the appeal out of this gameplay feature. It's why I hated the DA: O options so much. As a gay warden, I had zero choice in who I could romance and I happened to actively dislike that character. I would prefer choice, particularly given that it's (1) An RPG; (2) A Bioware Game; and (3) a gameplay dynamic that is more personal than some others.
