Ok I was just thinking..... if you NEED Mordin to do the science upgrades and stuff, isnt it kind of goofy that they give you a science lab with no scientist if Shepard doesnt have the "brains" to use it? lol

They give shepard a fact sheet with the latest sighting of the top-people of the galaxy.

They thought things through to the point of letting Shepard go out and collect the best.

they probably give you a science officer, but they aren't as smart as mordin or something... I don't know maybe I just jumped to a logical conclusion, where there isn't one

Why deploy a scientist, if you can make Shepard find one?

Im just saying, youd think a group as organized as Cerberus would give you someone who is useful in the lab off the get go..... at least to a point

Mordin might have assistants in the lab. The ship is full of "Filler" NPCs.

Who knows, maybe one of them takes the position if you don't bring Mordin along for whatever reason. Sure, he/she wouldn't be a fully fleshed out NPC - but maybe you can still fulfill all the necissary upgrades. I mean, it can't be Mordin's "only" reason for being in the game - though it is the "mechanical" reason he's there.

Just like how the original Normandy was filled with probably dozens of soldiers yet Shepard could only ever used Kaiden?

Its my impression that Mordin is one of the earliest recruits since you meet him on Omega.

Honestly...lets think this through....Mordin is involved with a "cure". Don't you think that the Illusive Man wants Mordin near his personnel so he could gather up some more info about it. The same thing goes for the other characters as well...

TIM is a very smart man....he thinks about every angle, he knows what he is doing...and especially since his mistake with (insert name here) before ME2, he won't mess up this time.....

You Ascension readers know what I'm talking about!

My only issue with Cerberus (without reading the novels or playing ME2 yet obviously) is that I thought they were a very pro-human, mainly xenophobic organization who is pushing for an agenda of ultimate human dominance. So why would they accept the help of other species?

There has been many a flame thread on here related to this, but my opinion of Cerberus (based on what i know thus far) is that they are pro-human definatly, in that their goals are to strengthen humanity, but they are not necessarily (in their every action, some are of course) anti-alien. The organization obviously catches its share of xenophobes (as it seems hard in the ME universe to be pro-humanity without seeming like a racist) but their are goals are mostly morally ambigious attempts to strenghten humanity. They are not a bunch of xenophobic alien haters like Terra Firma.

What daksmiley said - it looks like they are definitely furthering humanity's goals (in their own, sometimes twisted way), but they wouldn't go exterminate alien species just like that.

On the original issue, they probably expected you to get one yourself. After all, they've got their hands full with inhuman experiments that also happened to go wrong, and then you (Shepard) showed up and killed everybody. That's why maybe they're a bit short on brainy dudes.

I can picture a funny bit of dialogue...

Shepard "How come you gave an empty science lab? Where are my Cerberus Scientists?"

TIM: "You killed them all Shepard"

Cause the regular scientist doesn't cut it with his INFERIOR human brains. You need a salarian for the job.

Yeah, well. They had spent four billion credits on reviving Shepard. They could at least have put some fish in the fish tank.

The whole point of Cerberus is to make humanity equal or superior to the alien species in the galactic arena, as they believe that currently humans are in an inferior position, and doomed to become a client race if they don't act with ruthless decisiveness. A very different idea from pure xenophobia. Cerberus would probably be more than pleased to hire as many alien scientists as possible, leech all the research they can from them, and then use the results to push human supremacy.

Well my next question I suppose would be....why do aliens help this organization out given there obvious mandate?

We had a whole science division you could have picked a scientist from, but err they seem to have been killed. All of them. By you.

Not everybody gives a crap about politics? Some people are more interested in just helping others in general. Mordin is an unethical scientist with a benevolent streak. He probably sees humans disappearing as something important for him to help stop.
