I simply don't like bright elegance and overexaggeration in fantasy. DAI is even coming very close to Final Fantasy in that regard...Ieldra2 wrote...
What is it you don't like. I like these shots, as opposed to the Inquisitor's gear in the in-game footage with that ridiculous helmet.Mr Massakka wrote...
Of course the quality is outstanding, but I really despise basically every design choices this game has made so far.
I like my fantasy as dark and down to earth as possible. DAI looks like it's the exact opposite, much like DA2 was.

"Bright elegance" is a matter of cultural style, and IMO it fits Orlais very well. As for overexaggeration, I hated DA2's combat animations with a passion, but I don't mind a bit of badassery. A bit only, please. We'll see how DAI will do in that regard.Mr Massakka wrote...

If 17th Century France is the inspiration for Orlais, then the reveals are confirming that and the "bright elegance" fits. Listening to both the vendor and Leliana in DA:O, I expect high fashion and flowers. Lots of flowers! Oh, and shoes!

Of course it fits Orlais well, but that's my problem: I don't like Orlais. If there is anyone I personally wouldn't ask for fantasy inspiration, it's the French and the Japanese.Ieldra2 wrote...

I see. I guess it's purely a matter of preference then. I happen to dislike the more culturally primitive kinds of places, so I'm fine with Orlais and, should we get there, probably with Tevinter as well.Mr Massakka wrote...

Running around like an Orlesian nobleman/woman dressed in fine silk and cotton with a sword tucked to my back fighting monsters and giants in dark dungeons is too ridiculous for me and definitely not my style.
I want my inquisitor look like an adventuring warrior not like an Orleasian politician.

Who cares if the graphics aren't impressive? As long as the gameplay and story are good, then it's all good. Good graphics are just the icing.

And I want that hat!
If you look up the Battlefield 4 benchmarks for your CPU and GPU, it will give you a good idea of how DA:I will look/run on your PC.

Anyway, back to whats important.
DAT HAT! Are we sure our computers can handle dat hat being rendered or will are computers exploded from the awesomeness? (is that even a word?)
Can't wait to get my pimp daddy on with fancy hats. What is Orlais if not fancy over the top hats?

In the first screen, you can see what I believe are Varric's boots behind the other character (who is probably Cassandra going by the silhouette). It's like she's stopping him from entering the (bed)room where the Inquisitor is.
Right, based on the small bits of info so far it seems like Varric is going to be one of my problems that will need my trusty murder knife.
Oh yeah and I want that hat and a cool outfit to go with it. [smilie]http://social.bioware.com/images/forum/emoticons/grin.png[/smilie]

Maybe you've never heard of this really famous palace in France - it's called Versailles; you might want to look it up (although I think someone posted a picture from it up above)! *points at Lous XIV aka the Sun King*
Everyone knows at this point that the Orlesian fashion and architecture is based on all things French dating back to the 18th century or earlier. I find your claim that they're edging into Final Fantasy territory just because you can't stand anything having a hint of color or flair to be ridiculous.
Gee, would you call Notre Dame overexaggerated and too brightly elegant (after all, it does have rather a LOT of stained glass and fancy flying buttresses, etc.) as well? *rolleyes*

I wouldn't want to but I will if I have to. Based on the game footage he took issue with saving the keep over the village, now it seems like Cassandra has to stop him from entering the Inqusitor's chambers or wherever he is. I just think Varric is going to be my problem based on the type of playthroughs I like and therefore if a murder knife is needed, I will use it.

I hated DA 2's bland art style and sharp, pointy edges on things. Ugly armor:
http://dragonage.wik...wiki/Dissension
That isn't to say that all of their armor was ugly. I liked the Grey Warden armor. Funny how the Wardens get the budget for new uniforms after ther Hero of Ferelden stopped the blight.

You've seen the armor in the in-game footage. I don't think we need to worry about that, except if you're a mage and they force you into robes again. I'd hate that. The Woldan wrote...
I don't have a problem with different fashion standards in different nations, I think its a nice change, I just hope there will be lots of less-ridiculous less busy armor available that makes actual sense.

Apart from that, I'm far more worried about characters not dressing for the occasion - AGAIN! - and doing things like drinking a glass of wine in an armored glove. In their quite safe home.
