So I unlocked the BF3 soldier on an alt account and took him PUGging for a few matches the other day.

Wow, he's really powerful. I know he's been mentioned on the forum before, but considering the obsession with deeps on BSN, I would think he should be discussed more.

I'm running him with the Talon I (and a l1 extended clip is the only mod I have). I have 2 points in AR and 5 in fitness.

Carnage then frag grenade creates a powerful combo detonation which doesn't register in the killfeed. Doesn't look like a FE or a TB, so I'm unsure what it officially is, but it's sure effective.

The base human frag grenades are OP as hell, high base damage plus a 6.5 meter radius on a no delay explosion (or very minimal if not directly contacting an enemy)

Anyone have any playstyle suggestions or other build for him?

Yes, I assumed it was officially a fire explosion, but the graphic for an FE wasn't happening, nor was it registering in the killfeed.

Considering how powerful the QME is; it looks like the BF3 soldiers combo does even more damage (including the damage of the powers as well as the explosion)

On my primary account I believe I still have the 'new' label above the character. I would recommend giving him a try

With Carnage having pitiful symmetry on a couple of its other kits, this seemed like the character to spec it onto.

I mean, your build is something any weapon platform can do, but carnage/frag grenade combo is only available on this character ...

I'm sure you've tried it this way also ..

No fitness BF3 Soldier is a lot of fun. You can actually Claymore>Claymore>Carnage>Frag>Claymore without interruption on him if you time it right. I found out about that from this video.

The timing is a bit tricky to nail down, and not much will live long enough for that combo to be useful though. It is great against spawns of reapers and collectors, however. I go full damage on AR, though it's overkill to be honest. Works fine on platinum if you have some cyclonic IV's lying around.

It doesn't work well with Rush use in my opinion. Frags stagger better, too.

There are three kits with Adrenaline Rush and Frag grenades. Only one has both and carnage.

I don't have carnage on him. Javelin X with heavy barrel and armor piercing mod. Gotta kill that trooper hiding behind 3 meters of concrete.

I like him without fitness and a Venom, Claymore or Wraith. And IA for 2 quick FEs.

@Smeckie - Deeps is slang for DPS

@Moby - agreed with it not working well with AR .. I only have 2 points in it because A) As a new account and char, it started with a point already in it and For the once or twice a match where I want an instant reload and extra fire rate, plus C) Even though I could take the 3rd evo, I don't want the extra duration on it as I want to get back to spamming carnage with this build

@Slojack - Venom sounds interesting on this character .. i'll have to keep in mind for when I unlock

@Orc - he is a surprisingly fun character to play

@Dasfranken - with the build I am currently using, I do not have much need for AR (although I guess I could forgo fitness and use AR to buff my DR and shields when needed .. hmmm)

@Pint - Yes, he is a really fun, offensively powerful kit to play

The 2/6/6/6/5 build is perfectly viable, and quite a few people have mentioned it here.

2/6/6/6/5 is generally agreed to be better than 3/6/6/6/5 for the reasons you mentioned.

Personally, I'm running 0/6/6/6/6, but I might switch to the 2/6/6/6/5 one day.

One thing to mention is that carnage is both a primer and a detonator, so using disruptor or incendiary ammo to add more explosions to the mix is worthwhile.

Shoot(ammo prime)->carnage(ammo detonation+FE prime)->frag grenade(fire explosion).

I personally find disruptor ammo to be more reliable at getting two detonations per cast cycle, but I've seen incendiary ammo used effectively too.
