Looks pretty interesting. I was unaware that it's actually a kickstarter game.

Allright, is it just me or does anyone else get a black window when trying to post a new reply or edit a post? Quick reply works thoug.. :/

What I was trying to say before:
The female character implemenation seems rather half-hearted but IMHO, is better than nothing. Sorta like the Catwoman intermezzo in Arkham City. I still applaud their attempt at this compromise of sorts.

Also, since they are sticking with the realism mantra I am totally okay with her being stealthy and all. A 'warrior' woman during that period would consist of a peasant girl trying to beat a knight to death with some farming equipment on top of a Wagenburg.

Wow. Adding a female hero into this setting would be a great challenge but very intriguing. Especially since they're devoted to a high degree of realism. I can't believe they came right out and made it a stretch goal.

@Avalla'ch

It's happening to me too. Irritating.

A blatant warrior woman might be a bit too much for their quasi-historical setting to work with and remain believable. I'd just like some control over the main character's physical appearance.

Looks interesting, but I seriously doubt they will be able to make a game like this with KickStarter money.

might

Considering the game is historical fiction, it would ruin the believability of the world. Unless it's handled very, very carefully, they really shouldn't be including a playable female character at all.

Meh about the 600k goal, sounds more like a waste but fair enough. I'm more hoping that they reach the 700k goal for motion capturing because the animations kinda bothered me so far.

Elton John, would you perhaps consider putting the KS link on the first page? :)

Looks interesting. I don't get the people asking for fantasy elements though. That would be going against the point of the game. "Dungeons and no Dragons". Games like Dragon Age: Inquisition and others have the fantasy RPG side covered already. There aren't many games like this though that I know of at least not on console and it sounds like it has a lot of potential.

If they're going to meet their top goal, they need to do what Larian and Obsidian did, and that was constant updates, videos and contact with the fans. Those two teams never let up on the hype until the very end.

Theway I understand it, the female character is like a playable prolouge or intro.

The non-existence of warrior women throughout history is a myth. They were actually really common.

Well no one is claiming they don't exist. But they were definitely not 'really common' in the European historical period we are talking about, at least to my knowledge. Unless you don't count the auxiliary combatants that supported the Hussite units on their Wagenburgs. Mostly with farming equipment.

Really, not a sexist, but a female knight in the XV. century of the Holy Roman Empire would be an extraordinary occurrence. So much that basically any NPC in the game would look at the main character like a freak and act
consequently. Think Brienne of Tarth from SoIAF.

Yea.

Edit:

It's done.

Now onto the female character thing:

I was kinda expecting that it would be a stretch goal feature but it does almost sound half-hearted. Will it be a separate campaign and a short prequel to the blacksmith's son campaign? Or will it be a proper campaign set in the open world too? Or will they be doing a GTA thing where you can suddenly switch protagonists because it sounds like they're using what was an established character already and making her playable. If it's the later then I suppose that sounds alright although it sounds like she'll be a character who can only be a bard and rogue and not a straight up warrior (which I suppose is a sensible decision).

Edit 2:

Apparently the game will be very moddable with tools that the devs hope to release.

That's good news to me.

I can't help but think of the Imagine Dragons song whenever I read the title of this game.

Aside from that, I won't pledge to Kickstarter, but I'm looking forward to seeing what comes out of it. I like their attention to detail and historical accuracy. Vavra has a big mouth, but he also has genuine passion for this kind of game. Hopefully the end result will be awesome.

This guy quit a stable job to launch this thing, and you won't pledge, but of course you'd like to see the end result.

My money isn't limitless and I am less interested in Action RPGs than turn-based ones. I hope he does well regardless. Don't see why you need to get hostile.

I would bet a 1 million euros, 1 million pounds, 1 million dollars, and 1 peso that the first mods that come out for this game will be putting fantasy elements back in like creatures, places, powers and items. Right after the body mods and marital relations mods come out that is.

Well, I don't think you're playing an ordinary person as a "lead".

And since they're aiming for realism, does the main character take weeks to heal from injuries? Are most arrows useless against plate armor?

Interesting game. Now, if only M&B 2 would announce siege battles that aren't completely miserable.

In this case, the use of the word 'realism' is meaning that it's not intended to have fantasy elements in it.

It kinda reminds me of War of the Roses and Mount and Blade.
