Really, when you look at it, romances are what separate BioWare games from most other RPGs.  The characters that are developed and the way their relationships evolve are what draw us in.  The options for Male Shepard's romantic possibilities are high quality.  You have the hardnosed, yet still physically appealing, Ashley, the magnificently gorgeous, black haired, big boobed, bulbous butted Yvonne Strahovski, Miranda Lawson, Liara, the tatooed tantalizer Jack, and Tali, who is sweet, lovable, loyal, and is a shopped human goddess.  When you look at Female Shepard, who does she have?  Thane dies, Jacob messes with someone else, Liara, Kaiden, or Garrus.  2 humans in there and one doesn't have staying power at all.  Male Shepard has 3 humans and Tali, and they all appear in the end credits with a personal genuflection towards the fallen Commander.  What do you all think?

Technically Male Shepard can get all but Traynor and Vega of the human crew between the ME2 and 3 cast, as Kaidan and Cortez are also part of that mix.

As for what I think, I think this thread will go to wonderful places.

Don't forget Traynor for Femshep! (Why do you think I have a Traynor avatar?) And as KaiserShep pointed out, MShep also gets Cortez, while both F and MShep can get Kaiden.

i...idk what happened. i really don't. for a straight femshep...idk. i think there was supposed to be a romance w/vega, but i guess when it came down to stuff that needed to be cut, femshep just wasn't that important to them. you know, cuz why should she be?! it's only 18%! eff 'em! we gave them a lil web vid and beauty contest. Eff her. if you don't want kaidan, eff you.

Ack, i apologize. i hear the garrus romance was nice. i mean, if you managed to romance him in ME2. otherwise, eff you!

sigh. i'll get my coat...

Thane was awesome. I'm a male/hetero, but still, he was cool. It just sucks what they did to him. They lack consistency in what they want to emphasize through the series. He was once of their poster characters for ME2, and then becomes nothing.

Traynor is a cool addition, if you fit the bill. I don't care to play Femshep and romance her, but she's a great character, period.

I forgive them with the Citadel DLC. Single Shepard sleeping with Javik is so funny >.<

In-universe, waking up next to Javik should be a total nightmare, especially after all Shepard's been through against the Collectors.

Had a one night stand with Wrex...never stood up again.... LOL! I wish the Citadel DLC offered his romance therefore my ME Romance would be complete!

The str femShep romances will be a sore spot in ME3 forever. They tacked Vega as a one nighter in the Citadel DLC as an afterthought (Ooops!) and hey they gave us the possibility of Javik! okay now we made up for Jacob and Thane.... guess again. Well technically Thane shouldn't have been a romance possibility anyway in ME2. They just should have given Zaeed a full face, but it would have taken away from his backstory. And to be fair how about having Miranda cheat on Shepard, too. We lose the prize, you lose dat ass.

The odd part is Jacob. Thane's fate was pretty much what everyone should have expected.

They lacked consistency even around the same game in regards to Thane, considering he serves no specific or necessary purpose during the suicide mission (he's a bang-up escort!).  Anyway, had the Kai Leng fight been handled better, it would've been a great way for the dying character to go out.

I think they tried to balance Miranda with Jacob by giving her multiple failpoints/potential for death in Me3. It seems like they really want her to die.

Jacob was resentful that Shepard only saw him for the armor he installed on the ship.

Thane's fate expected, but the writing still sucks even while he's alive. That's what upset people as much.

His skillset is purposeful at least. He's made to kill Collectors.

I like how the master assassin is now resorting to blindly firing a Tempest SMG over cover.

Jacob's was stereotypical. Lol, plus, he was never interesting to me anyways.

This is why I rarely play FemShep.

Although Kaidan and Garrus make a decent romance option.

I wonder how many players felt a twinge of regret when Jacob uttered those fateful words: "But the priiize."

Anyway, the amount of romances available to MShep never really swayed me much, and I still like FShep more. I only have two MSheps, and one is the biggest ****** in space who dies with the bluest nethers in the galaxy, and the other now just sticks with Ashley for the trilogy.

I'm still a fan of Stag > Chambers > Traynor for one of my FemSheps, silly shower scene notwithstanding.
