The VS's admittance into the Spectres doesn't seem entirely legitimate once you learn about Udina's deal to remove the Council from power. Was he/she simply a patsy that Udina was using to replace the uncooperative Shepard, or did he/she actually earn that title? We simply don't know, but I would lean closely on the former.

This is like watching a fish fall for an angler fish lure. So obvious, and yet the fish is oblivious until the very end.

Personally, I'd say Kaidan was more worthy of it than Ashley ever was.

Kaidan might have a case, but his induction does have the sense of something more at play.

Ashley was, pure and simply, given the title out of pity for humanity.

That, spirosz, is really just very foolish.

Nope, you can very well argue that Garrus' draw relies on him mainly being broken and appeal is that the romance is one of the few good things in his life. "I just want something to go right" embrace the line David. Embrace it.

No. Not even close.

So according to you the Spectre is outclassed by the self admited, failed cop/failed Spectre candidate/ failed vigilante who's only real accomplishment was a high merc body count on Omega followed by the decimation of his team and an escape in which he lost half his face and had to fake his own death.

Intresting

To be fair, neither the VS or Shepard really had to contend with an equivalent of Sidonis in their ranks, which is the only reason why his team died in the first place. Also, there's a difference between faking one's own death, and being assumed dead. It's not as if Garrus was in any condition to flip the bird at the airlock and say "I'm out, b*tches!"

Sidonis didn't just betray them on a whim though, he was captured first which just goes to show that Garrus' squad was running on borrowed time to begin with, the mercs would have struck back eventually even if it wasn't through Sidonis, if they can capture just one member of the team they can capture any of them given enough time, and Garrus even admits for as many mercs they took down Omega didn't really change for the better. He's assumed dead and takes advantage of it effectively faking arch-angels own death to get the heat off him.

It's not as if Garrus was in any condition to flip the bird at the airlock and say "I'm out, b*tches!"

Not gonna lie, I'd pay to see that.

Not decimation. Annihilation.

I see why he hates the "I want something to go right" line so much. It's too honest.

It breaks his idealitically wishful perception of Garrus. David only sees the traits that he wants to see in his characters. Garrus admitting (and to a woman he is romantically involved w/, no less) he wants things to go right meshes w/ David's own view of the character.

This is totally the animation they should use for that scene.

Agreed. I'd pay to see that animation.

Okay the pun was lame. I knew it when I wrote it. But Kaidan may have been more worthy of being a Spectre, but Kaidan was dead in 98.5% of the ME3 games.

Ashley is 100 times much more worthy of being a Spectre than Bau is, that guys a moron. I lost all hope in Garrus ever becoming a Spectre when in ME2 he told me that he gave up Spectre training(for the 2nd time!) because, get this,  "there was too much red tape"...

There is no hope for this boy.

Major Kirrahe should have been Jondam Bau. He's had almost three years to go from Virmire to being a spectre. I think he could have gotten more than just major in that time. And he should have joined the squad at some point.

That's the best thing about his character though. Reminds me of my own employment history (or lack thereof).

I really think the series would have benefited from some revelation of what the VS was doing for two years. Maybe in some LoTSB vids or after Arrival or something. Something to justify Ashley rocketing up 6 ranks (I think Kaidan's modest two is more justifiable).

For the rogueish character, I nominate Corporal Toombs (yes, I plug for him wherever I can). He could have been added in ME3, meeting him on a mission encountering Cerberus troops (the Coup maybe?). Then you get the option of taking him on the normandy. This was all the the unnecessary angst felt by the VS can be attributed to a more valid character.

Sorry. Kaidan's survival rate is 17%

His popularity is 1.5%. Given that number there is a good chance that Kaidan was dead the entire time.

1.5%??? I guess I'm the only one who uses Kaidan as a squadmate. Poor guy.

Kaidan is very underrated, as both a character in general and as a squad member in my opinion. He's one of the most versatile in both ME1 and 3. I find he's a great complement to my vanguard along with James.

He's great for combat. Not really interesting to me as a character in either game. Don't like him or hate him. The main benefit I see to him is that he has more ME3 banter and isn't bugged like Ashley (her marksman bug sucks).
