Canon. This is interesting. Is this the "unspoiled" first play of the story where you make all of the mistakes with your character? You know the one I'm talking about. The one where you're not using the strategy guide and you're just going through the plot discovering things as they come along. The one where you haven't metagamed to have all those points to get the perfect build to get the right conversation options and you have to shoot Wrex or Ashley does it because you picked the "wrong" conversation option.

Then you go onto ME2 and you muddle through that one the same way and make the mistakes because you didn't do things perfectly. You miss resolving that disagreement, and a couple team mates die.

Then you get to ME3 and you've got 12 Shepards to choose from. Which one should you pick? Which is your true canon? Is it the perfect Julia Shepard? Or is it the flawed Julia Shepard of my first run through the game? You know the honest one without the metagaming? I played that one first. I guess that was my canon.

So to answer David's next question... No, I didn't romance Jacob in that one. I romanced Thane. Thane died in ME2. I lost him to the seeker swarm. That Shepard fell into Liara's arms in ME3.

The point you seem to be missing spirosz, is that nobody cares about Jacob. People romancing Jacob on their 10th playthrough, as I might, does not mean they care about the romance or have any investment in the outcome. It means they want to see what happens.

Now, a canonical romance is completely different. So a canonical romance is what we need to be looking for.

For me, Miranda was a late-stringer, do-it-to-see-what-happens romance. My first Shepard romanced Tali, and only Tali. My second (femshep) did the same with Kaidan. My third jumped from Liara to Garrus and stuck with him. It was my fourth and final JokeShep based on Jayne Cobb who knocked boots with every human female in the first two games who finally got around to her.

I'm not arrogant enough to presume my preferences are applicable to everyone. None of my Shepards went near Samara, Thane, Steve, or Traynor (well, JayneShep hit on her, but no dice). Still, you won't see me declaring Thane et al non-canonical.

And? Keep in mind that I didn't say that these videos were absolute proof that you were wrong, but rather merely evidence to the contrary. You have nothing to substantiate your statement that "nobody" romanced Jacob, while I can link you to videos showing that someone did. There's videos showing content in the Citadel DLC that touch on this very subject, so we know that at least some people imported into the next game with Jacob as an LI in ME2. Whether or not you believe that these users are "invested" in these character arcs is irrelevant, because you can't prove that they aren't any more than I can prove that they are. It still provides more than what you have to prove your assertion.
