If you're a rogue you can substitute out Leliana for Sten. He's a 2H warrior and will complement Alistair well.

I'd say less than ten per cent (based on my own playing times).

As to the party members (you will get more), I suggest trying them out in combat and finding out which ones best suite your style.

You can either change your party back at the party camp or in rare circumstances such as: Lothering, Denerim (Outside Arl Eamons palace later in the game), outside Orzammar, Redcliffe, Lake Calenhad etc

As soon as you leave Lothering you will get a Party Camp as a default location. Here you can talk to companions privately, etc, and every time you leave to go on a mission, you can select whichever companions you like.

There is also an icon to change party-members mid-mission at the top of the screen (for PC, don't know about consoles), but sometimes this is deactivated depending on your mission.

As for party composition, you always need a rogue for traps and chests, but you are one, so that's good. Sten is a hard-hitter, but he's also a little fragile for the first couple of missions before you get him some decent armour, so don't be put off if he seems to get killed a lot.

Also, go for the Mages for your first treaty mission, and the Stone Prisoner DLC if you have it (if you do, try to find Sulcher's Pass and go from there). Just a tip.
