Lone Shepard - Story Arch

Now, for reasons I've stated plenty of times - there's no love interest for my Shepard. Fine, moving on. Since a love interest likely will not be provided for me, it made me think of a possibility I find compelling for any RPG.
Why not put in a "Lone Shepard" story arch? If you chose not to have an LI - I think it would be great if that became part of the story as much as the LIs do. LIs are fun, and important for the story (as stated by Casey), but not having one (especially when one you would be interested in is denied to you) is also an interesting story and there's a lot of fun things that could be done with that.
Shepard - the stoic loner. He doesn't have the vulnerability of a LI to exploit. He's dangerous because he has nothing to lose.. etc. etc.
Anyway, I found the idea interesting.

Wouldn't you be more dangerous if you had everything (or more) to lose?
I know Bruce Willis in DIE HARD seems to be. And Liam Neeson in TAKEN. And Denzel Washington in Man on Fire.
(Note: Specific examples are NOT love interest related, just more to point out the more vs. nothing to lose thing.)
(P.S: They're all trying to save children in those movies.)
(P.P.S: Well; in the first two, they're like teenagers to young adults, but they're the protagonists children. Denzel tries to save Dakota Fanning.)

I didn't say "more" or "less" dangerous - I just think it would be an interesting "Anti-Love Interest" plot to follow through on. Instead of "wasting" time on romance - you can delve into Charity: Paragon or Crime: Renegade (lame example, but it's just to get the idea across)
Hmm, I see.
Personally I want my Shepard to get rich owning a commercial empire selling omni-gel... or advanced weapons like Robert Downey Jr.. I guess that can be neutral.
And Shepard says something like, "Imagine if I had been wasting my time shagging blue aliens instead of capitalizing on my success" And then he pulls out a giant cuban cigar.

SPOILERS AHEAD! YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!
In fact, you know that one scene in one of the recent videos where you see Ashley running over to Shepard while the Normandy's cracking up? Of course, it'll probably be Kaidan if you romanced him, but if you're alone, then maybe nobody's coming to check up on you. It'd be BADASS! Of course, I guess Bioware's going to have the Virmire survivor in that scene anyway, but it would be cool if you're like THE BADASS LONER GAL/DUDE.

I agree OP. As a loner FemShep in ME1, I feel that this would compliment my character perfectly.

Shep dying ALONE?!
And then spoilers:
No one to go to when he's ressurrected?!

Of course then you'll end up getting made fun of by the npc's making bad innuendos regarding guns going off and giant explosions.
