I keep debating whether or not I want to try to get through the Witcher again.

3 times I've tried and 3 times I just. couldn't. get into it. (Admittedly, the last time ended with a game-breaking bug.)

I *want* to like this game. I have Witcher 1 EE and I can see Witcher 2's on sale. The Witcher 3 trailer looks *fantastic*. But the combat/gameplay... and if I can't get through Witcher 1...

Well, Far Cry 3's on sale... maybe I should give that a shot.

I have to transfer over my DA:O saves from my external to this computer, then I'll finish up my half finished second playthrough, and then get that into DA2. It took me a long time to get through one run of DA:O, by the time I finish the second DA:I will probably be close to release.

I guess it's one of those games wether you love it or you don't.

I can suggest you to watch Angry Joe Review, he loved the game but he was fair and pointed out everything you need to know about the good and bad parts of the game

That's really a shame dude :\\

According to TW3 devs, the game will have TONS of different endings, which will be affected by your decisions from the game and previous ones.

I guess you can skip TW1 and 2, but I think you may miss too much content.

(btw, I forced myself to play TW1, I only liked the 2nd)

You should add a bunch of the 'golden oldies.' Planescape Torment is certainly worth it to anyone who hasn't played it.

And therein lies the rub. I don't want to start 2 until I beat 1 and I definitely, *definitely* don't want to just jump into 3. So I think even if I don't give it another go over the holiday season I'm sure I'll get motivated to give it another shot once the W3 hype really starts rolling in.

The first Divinity is one of my favorite games of all time and an underrated classic. It's like Diablo and Elder Scrolls had a baby. Ego Draconis is a mixed bag.

Romance is apparently the very first criteria and although Spec Ops: The Line manages to make it's way into the list, Baldur's Gate doesn't.

Anyways, I would recommend the Neverwinter Nights games, specifically NWN 2 w/ Mask of the Betrayer.

I'm also having a blast playing Gothic 3 w/ Community & Content Packs at the moment, but the writing is nothing special and you are shoehorned into playing a white dude with no options to romance people. So I'm sure the BSN isn't very interested in that.

It is however, a relatively reactive open-world RPG with a fun factions system and civil war dynamic similar if not better than Skyrim's, 5 years before Skyrim came out. It features stellar exploration, an unscaled world, an interesting character system, multiple ways to complete quests with varying outcomes and although it can be very frustrating both gameplay wise and stability wise, it is also very rewarding. Your protagonist is also a sarcastic bastard.

Two Worlds for the Xbox 360 is an amazing role playing experience. With exhilarating combat, an engaging story with great dialogue, a beautiful world to explore and a very smooth framerate.

I put romance BecauseYouKnowHowBSNWorks and like I said on the other comment, I'm not from the old generation so I didn't play Baldur's Gate or Neverwinter Nights. The only old RPG game that I am inclined to play is Fallout 1 and 2, but just because of the hype I'm getting.

But this topic is just for this:wizard: Give ideas of games you want to share.

This list gave me some work you know? I spent my sweet time making this. By the time I started it I didn't see the other thread. Even if I seen it, I wouldn't post it there to let it get forgotten in some page...

So yeah, your commentary is kinda of rude.

Haha, already did. Neverwinter Nights 2 w/ Mask of the Betrayer, and the Gothic series of games.

But another one that shares similiarities with BioWare games is the two Drakensang games. They're fairly difficult to purchase online (can only be found on Amazon AFAIK), but for people who like Origins type games, The Dark Eye and River of Time in particular should be of interest.

It's only in alpha-access now, but Starforge looks like it has potential.  Like space Minecraft.  Or Star Bound with different graphics.

But for another game, the Age of Empires or Age of Mythology series is always fun.

Do you remember how far along you had gotten in The Witcher when you lost interest? The game does kind of progress in fits and starts, and there are a couple of parts (both in the more "rural" towns IIRC) where it seems to get sidetracked, but it's worth seeing through and it always picks back up relatively soon. And I say that as someone who's not a huge fan of fantasy settings and never finished Oblivion or DA:O. Witcher 2 is better, but I wouldn't have wanted to play it without having played the first game.

(Though the interactions between Geralt and some of the unattached female characters do get pretty sexist and just generally kind of dumb. I got around it by just turning them down, but it's still kind of ridiculous.)

The twitch mechanic in TW1 is kind of mindless, though I prefer TW1's combat because of the aesthetics alone, especially later on as you add chain attacks.  Anyway the strength of that game is atmosphere, characters and story.

And to the OP, I'm waiting for Witcher 3. :D But your list should include Fallout New Vegas and Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines.
