What's up with all this "I want to romance Varric!!11!!!one1!!" stuff? We've all seen what happened to Anders when he became romancable lol
Awakening Anders > DA2 Anders
You have a point but not one that everyone will agree with. Anders did change drastically in the time between when he appeared in DAA and DA2. Many people didn't like the way he changed. I like both personalities and will not be fazed in my opinion - I play my game solo and no one else has to like it.
Even if Varric were to become romanceable, he might not still be the same Varric. He won't have an extra passenger but time and experiences change everyone. Perhaps his cynicism may take on a harder edge or the lightheartedness will be harder to spot.
I like the idea of a dwarf romance option as we've never had one. Many players are dwarf fans and it would be a nice surprise for them. I think some joke stereotypes that are old enough to collect Social Security might be standing in the way of seeing this happen. Pick the "surprise me" option at the Pearl and you might see an example of one. I hope this changes for dwarf fans.
There will probably be only two options for each gender so I'm not sure I'd want to make a dwarf one of them. It would be cool to have one potential LI from each race but what if my preferred race was the wrong gender? No worse than not liking the available options for one gender in the other games.

Anders's change between DAA and DA2 had nothing to do with him being romanceable in DA2, though.
Agreed. The point I was failing to make was that even if Varric was made romanceable, the player might not want to if his personality changed.

I'm guessing they haven't wanted to do a dwarf romance because they think the size difference will make it look like child molest or something? However not having a dwarf LI does the same thing because dwarf players are left with humans, elves, (and Qunari?) as their only option.

I do. I don't think they "look like child molest or something". I would love to see a dwarf LI, preferably not Varric, but it's looking unlikely that we will have another dwarf companion so unless there are agent romances, I'm thinking it's a no go again.
other people might and that's an isasue.<_<

So then don't access that content. Win-win. Clearly there are people who would access that content, though.

Seriously? People think dwarves look like kids, yet the Elves who are about half a head taller are fine?
Yeah... cause that makes sense?
What is going on in the heads of some people, honestly?

I'm not super attracted to the elves or qunari based on their physicality either, but that wouldn't stop me from romancing one of them if their personality and place in the story were appealing -- especially since it's a game romance and not an actual lifetime commitment.
Variety, bros. It's what makes a new game new.
(and don't forget that many of us will be playing as dwarven Inquisitors ourselves. Deny us dwarf romances just because you won't take them? BSN pls)

That's how BSN rolls. If someone else wants it, then it's their job to deny it on the grounds of "realism", "verisimilitude", or just plain "cuz I don't like it".
Don't think most players care.
Some players hate romances on general principles, claim romances are being forced on them although they aren't mandatory..Some think, like fast jimmy, that they take resources away from other aspects of the game.

Yeah, I never understood people being squicked out by the dwarf romances, myself. I'm 5' and built like a lady-dwarf in real life (minus the crazy long arms) and I get hit on fairly regularly. Usually by complete creeps, but that's beside the point.
Yeah, I guess people are often confused pure sex with romance. Trust me, once you've been with as many women as I have, you wouldn't care too much about the appearance. You start looking for inner beauty, kindness, intelligence, playfulness and so on...
