Despite ME's lore that asari have no gender as humans do, they look almost identical to human women. I usually have to remind myself they're not technically women. I would be saddened more over the lack of anything resembling an M/M option than this.

BioWare has done M/M and F/F romances before, it's not like they're scared to do it.
The story comes first, I don't think the dev team is too heavily focused on the romance subplots as they are with the main story and overall feel of the world. Although, they could always add in a new character who was bisexual/homosexual later through DLC, but that opens a whole new can of worms.

There's already a thread about this exact same topic, and now there's another one!
You spam the boards incessantly with your dumb ass topics, piteously whining about why such and such character isn't gay/lesbian, or why there isn't any gay characters in the game..
Get over it, or cancel your orders if it means that much to you.
At this stage in the game, it's obviously far too late for your pathetic whining to have any effect
Honestly, I'm glad Bioware decided to stick it to you guys, if only because it gives me pleasure to see all of you in such distress over something as ridiculous as this

Anyways, do you consider asari female and FemShep/asari parings f/f?
F/f, regardless of what the devs try to backpeddle now.
It's what started the whole "BioWare shows our children lesbian porn in it's depraved game!" thing.
Okay, then why are you saying there's no F/F in Mass Effect 2? Right now, we don't know if that's accurate or not.
I'd like them to include M/M, but I'm just curious as to why you're so sure they don't have F/F.

Do you think it is right to judge someone solely on looks alone with no understanding of their character or personality and make such singular determination on their sexual orientation by superficial features alone? It may seem an odd question but what I am getting at here is that the original poster made assumptions and they didn't pan out but how then is this BioWare's fault?
If you're asking about SuZe specifically, then no I don't think it right to base assumptions on one's appearance, of course.

I was not trying to be, and I apologize if it sounded that way but society at large is not as open about this issue as some would like and change is slowly coming but I am not sure you think BioWare must do. They don't have to do anything. It's their product and their story, you can call them cowards all you like but ultimately they decide what content to put in or take out.CasbynessPC wrote...
That's a pretty controversial split infinitive there.

I can see how if Subject Zero were bi then she would be a massive stereotype. I know a lot of DA players just assumed that Morrigan would be the f/f romance and then were really shocked that it was the other lady.
Maybe we can work out how to swap the textures for Samara and Subject Zero. Wouldn't that just solve everything?

I'm not really that concerned, but alas it's the consequence of BioWare being moral cowards.
Um...moral cowards? Don't they have same sex romances in other games? Now because they decided one character would be hetero they are moral cowards?

True, but there were certainly enough stories involving FF and MM long before Kirk, just saying that going across species is a little more of a leap than just making a character bisexual.

Haven't there been announcements that there would only be hetero relationships?
Even if not, Samara.. well, as an Asari it'd be treading over old ground wouldn't it? I suppose it's enough for some people but there's something about the "justification" that "well Asari aren't technically female so it's totally NOT homosexuality" that rubs me the wrong way.

This has been dizzying to follow. I'm unaccustomed to threads moving this fast. In any case, this is all news to me. Samara is it then aside from Thane and Jacob? I have to admit that does disappoint me a little. I'm not the greatest fan of Asari, but at least that's something. From reading this thread I assumed even Samara wasn't an option.
Samara is not confirmed. The third love interest for FemShep isn't confirmed at all. Samara is heavily implied, but that's not the same. I was talking tongue in cheek earlier because I didn't notice how serious the thread had become.

It's how BioWare pays their bills? If there product does not sell and they recoup the tens of millions of not more they sunk into ME2 they can't make ME3? I am not trying to get into a deep fiscal debate here that is beyond the scope of my knowledge but money plays a role in this. It plays a huge role in this.LucidStrike wrote...

This isn't social commentary here, not too terribly deeply unless you wish it to be. It's entertainment and entertainment is very money based especially now. I don't think I have to explain this but I can try with my limited knowledge if need be.

No, there hasn't. That might be the case in ME 2, but what Casey said was: "..there were no female/female relationships in ME 1. ME 2 is the same."
Even if not, Samara.. well, as an Asari it'd be treading over old ground wouldn't it? I suppose it's enough for some people but there's something about the "justification" that "well Asari aren't technically female so it's totally NOT homosexuality" that rubs me the wrong way.
I can understand that. Personally, I don't care if BioWare calls asari gender ambigous pink shovel people, but I get where you'd coming from.
(And you know, now that we've had this conversation, BioWare will announce Garrus as the third FemShep love interest.

She's not just a psychotic fighter like Grunt, she's got an emotional side that from have shown through in some of the dev videos that make her an intriguing and interesting character for me.
Mordin is a close second though, can't wait to find out more about him.

I suspect this is probably the case, and it has some bad connotations but if that is what it takes then so be it. But again this is their product and I am not buying it because I can have romances with everyone and their cousin, I am buying it because BioWare usually creates one hell of a story that hooks me in and never lets me go.The Angry One wrote...

The distinction is not irrelevant. "True" capitalism doesn't exist, so I'm asking if you want me to justify something that doesn't exist or if you want the justification for what we actually have. The arguments are very different.LucidStrike wrote...

Anything less and Bioware are obviously backing into some corner because they are scared and are bigoting the relationships they exclude and are um...dumb and stuff. Yeah!
/sarcasm off
Not every story needs to cover all the bases, period. If you don't like who you can romance in the game then don't romance them, period.
EDIT: Oh and for the record. JADE F****** EMPIRE. It's been done before and doesn't need to be done in every game afterwards.
