But I play BioWare games because I can create a character that looks more like me. I am not too terribly worried about sexual orientation I find the romances as a sweetener to a pot but the bulk of the flavor comes from the story not who I can boink.
So considering your question, I would not have an issue with it because that is the current state of the industry by a large margin.

As for Subject Zero not being a gay option.
I don't see why she should be any more than Miranda.

*sigh* You are required to state why they have to cater for every single romantic demand in every single one of their games, simply because you say they have to. You cannot simply say 'why not'. Burden of proof. Google is your friend.
I'm bisexual by the way, so it's not as if I'm a bigot who's trying to hurr durr keep the homos down. Please, don't be one of those frothing, militant people who give the rest of us a bad name by trying to shove LGBT values down everyone's throats.
Who the hell is shoving? Excuse me for expecting homosexuality and bisexuality to be treated as *gasp* normal.
This is 2010, not 1910.
God, your just as bad as the atheists who claim that religion is blind zealotry and parade your opinions around as such it could be considered the same thing. First of all Dragon Age had elf-man love so don't be mad at bioware. If you had a little tact in your opinions and tried to incite a discussion instead of a hate parade maybe I would care. Why is it also that people want Subject Zero to be the female conquest when if she were because shes effectively a tom-boy and that would basically cascade to the stereotype that Lesbian women are "butch." You would be the first one complaining too I bet.
Personally I think Subject Zero is a great character.
Stop asking too much of a game please.

I don't know if the character is so popular in USA as is in Europe, but I see that SuZe has a similar profile, minus Salander bisexuality (shame on you Bioware

lol some wishful thinking in this thread. Tali is NOT a confirmed romance last I saw, though I imagine both male and female players would like that. As for F/F romances being out, that is confirmed. That all but confirms that M/M will NEVER be a possibility. If the reasons for removing them were society/politics related, the fact is that however odd it is people are more comfortable (on a sliding scale) with two women than they ever will be with two men.

Casey/interviews have stated that ME and ME2 particularly is about relationships. I'm pretty sure that many if the not the majority of the "I'm a guy so I play a Maleshep - if you want to romance so-and-so just play another Shepard", "Bioware decides what happens", "all LIs being bisexual takes away from immersion", ad-nauseum players would have a fit if they were faced with limited or no choices.
It's not about deviant/not-deviant, it's about individual choices. If we want an immutable scripted story which conforms purely to its creator's intentions there's no need to buy an interactive game - a movie will do just as well. At the very least there should be at least 1 same sex romance for each gender (my opinion but one which I suspect is shared by at least 25% of straight male gamers - don't know about female ones) .

The original post was misleading and essentially a whine that Subject Zero is not gay, because she looked gay. Therefore they will kill her.Nashkital wrote...

As a straight male I play a femshep - I find it sexier, less cliched and more fun. It's not a gay/straight subject of contention it's about choices. Ideally every potential love interest would be open to both sexes if you push the right buttons - since ME is a single player game the gamer's sexual orientation would determine the potential love interests' sexual orientation.

No no no.
The original post was misleading and essentially a hissy fit that Subject Zero is not gay and ebil, because she looked gay and ebil. Therefore they will kill her and everyone else who is not gay and ebil.

You need to look again. Oh wait, you can't see deleted threads, can you?

No, it wasn't. In fact, the asari/FemShep romance is being heavily implied while the sex and romance vids show Samara pimp walking while music plays.

I didn't have many problems with the Mako. Slow, steady, and willingness to gape in slack-jawed awe as my vehicle scaled an 85 degree angle climb was pretty much what kept me going.Naltair wrote...

So...
1. Subject Zero trailer launched
2. Significant fanbase backlash, polarisation of haters and lovers.
3. Percentage of Subject Zero supporters who were players with an renegade FemShep looking for a good f/f partner: 80%? 90%?
4. Confirmation that Subject Zero is hetero.
5. Quantity of supporters for Subject Zero: -50%? -75%?
Percentage of evil Femshep players who were planning to focus solely on ensuring themself and Subject Zero survived ME2 as a couple prior to announcement, laughing evilly as most of the other squad mates were murdered horribly: very high!
Percentage of evil Femshep players who are now planning to focus solely on ridding themself of Subject Zero because she will now be more like an annoying rival and constantly remind them of how much more fun Liara was: very high!
Poor Subject Zero. She had the makings of such a fanatical fanbase and it's all now been blown away.
I'm right there with you on this subject. BOOM! Headshot! For for Suze. Why? Because hey, F**K you
