I still think this game is going to end with a Greater Pride Demon showing up.

I made a thread like this 9 months ago, and I'm making it again to maybe get some new feedback. Considering the game is all about closing Fade tears, I'm now even more sure than before that the big one we're meant to close as the main point of the game is going to have a Greater Pride Demon step through and end the game with a cliffhanger. I may as well post the stuff from the last thread.

http://social.biowar...ndex/16411641/1

It will be about a pride demon. Specifically, a greater pride demon.

http://dragonage.wik...onic_Possession

"A greater pride demon, brought across the veil, would threaten the entire world."

All the death and magic used during the giant mage-chantry war is probably going to tear the veil badly enough that a great pride demon will finally be able to pass through to the real world. Considering a greater pride demon is a literal "end of the world" event, it will probably be the greatest threat in the history of Thedas, one that could make a mere blight look like a picnic. It would take an alliance of main characters to defeat (Warden, Hawke, DA3 protagonist), and would cause the world itself to practically become a giant veil wound that makes the fade pretty much fall onto the real world... Bringing and untold number of demons over. The worlds would blend so much that the real world pretty much becomes the fade, which could cause "the magic to come back" as told by Sandal in DA2, because even non-mages would experience the fade by that point."

second post in thread----

"I specifically said that the events of DA3 is what will lead into the scenario this thread is about, as in the giant war world war going on in Inquisition. The war in DA3 will cause so much death and such wanton use of magic that the veil will be opened enough for a greater pride demon to emerge near the end of DA3 or the beginning of DA4, and THAT will cause things to get even worse until the veil may as well not even exist anymore and the fade falls into the real world, and the game after Inquisition will be that scenario of you dealing with that happening  and having to kill the greater pride demon at the end... If my guess is right.

While I'm not so sure about some details as I used to be (like all the playable characters needing to team up to deal with it), one of those things showing up would make perfect sense seeing as everything is being set up perfectly for that to happen.

I just thought of this, so I'll add it in. I think the Maker might be a Greater Pride Demon. They are pretty much godlike in their power, enough to convince a world that they are a Maker of the world. And it would take a ton of pride and arrogance to consider yourself the most esteemed and powerful being in the universe to the point of demanding worship. And remember what Corypheus said about the golden city already being black and tainted before they even arrived. If a Greater Pride Demon is in fact the ruler of that city, it being black and corrupted would make sense, a place made and ruled by one would not be a golden place of beauty. And we know there's a connection between Darkspawn taint and demons, remember the weird wall flesh stuff in the Circle Tower is exactly like the wall flesh that grows in Darkspace infested placed like the Deep Roads. So if there is a connection, then the corruption and darkness that would come from a Greater Pride Demon could very well be what tainted the Magisters.

This doesn't really have to do with my thought about a Greater Pride Demon being the next game's enemy, this is just some random speculation I thought up while making this thread.

And actually... (about my last post), this would explain why Darkspawn seek out the Old Gods. The Old Gods tried to use the magisters to usurp the "Makers" power, but the Maker GPD countered by corrupting the magisters and then having the Darkspawn that came from those magisters hunt down and corrupt all the Old Gods for daring to attempt what they did. And maybe from there, the Archdemons do the bidding of the Maker GPD and try to spread the Maker's taint and corruption to the rest of the world using Blights... Of course if a real one shows up in the real world, it can do it far better than the Archdemons could at that goal.

edit: And... I'm done multi posting. That's everything to say until people start responding.

A blight is a threat to the whole world. A power-mad bloodmage is a threat to the whole world. Etc.
I see no reason to jump to such a conclusion based on a single line. Pride demons don't even seem particularly threatening after killing half a dozen of them AND ending a blight by killing a corrupted Old God.

Pride demons, no. GREATER pride demons are a whole different matter entirely from the normal version. A normal pride demon caused the Ferelden Circle disaster and caused tons of death and destruction and nearly built an army to kill all the Templars. That was just one little one of the mill pride demon. A greater one will pull the same kind of disaster off, except on a global scale rather then just a single tower.

Any demon can just be expelled with the litany of Adralla. What is it you think a "greater" pride demon is going to do? Just pop out and instantly destroy the world?

Greater Pride Demon: "You can destroy the Fade, control the Fade, merge with the Fade, or refuse to do anything."

The Litany only halts mind control, it doesn't expel demons.

@OP, even though I don't necessarily want it to be the end game scene, I do wish to encounter a greater pride demon.

I have. Many times. The Litany only dispelled Cole's invisibility, nothing more.

The OP is in luv with pride demons.
THe main protagonist will likely be an old God or the Tevinter magisters who entered the golden city or some combination of both.
shrugs.

I wouldn't be at all surprised if a Greater Pride Demon is involved - after all, both factions are doing everything they're doing because of Pride.

The Litany doesn't expel demons; it simply cancels the effects of blood magic.  That's why it worked on Cole.  Even if that weren't true, there's no reason why an especially powerful demon couldn't be stronger than the Litany.
