Dear Bioware, why should I care about choice when I KNOW you will probably retcon them in the future?

Bull****, your whole post reeks of it. Gandulf was always planned to survive? Aint that a crock of ****, how about you show some proof before you go spouting off diahreha from your mouth eh. And Aragon surviving was grade aid bait and switch from the writer to juke the audience, it served no purpose and was only there for drama, much like leilianas death. And don't you even dare try and say Darth Vader was a character meant to be in more then just new hope. He was flying out into space with no control over his ship and millions of miles away from anyone, he was as good as dead. New hope itself was never intended to be anything but a stand alone film, but george got greedy and cocky and decided he wanted to bring the guy back and make things more "dramatic" by retconing anakin skywalker to be alive and be a main character this whole time.
-5/10 troll harder and get better ****ing ammo.
Both The Lord of the Rings and The Star Wars Trilogies were all written and finished before the first of either series was released and both authors and had planned out the stories, and how they would end, from the beginning. Darth Vader was always planned to survive. Gandalf was always planned to survive. Aragorn was always planned to survive. Leliana was not originally written to serve a greater purpose in Mage-Templar war and was not originally written to survive if the Warden turned on her in Andraste's temple.
You obviously don't know what retconning means, or trolling for that matter. Again, please refrain from discussing subjects you have no clue about.

geez, I wonder why no one is reacting the same way to Flemeth's appearance in DA2
Actually people did complain about it.
Regarding DA2, the game was a lot shorter than the developers had originally intended, and there was also a planned expansion/DLC titled "Exalted March" IIRC. I do believe Flemeth, Leliana, and Morrigan have been planned to be fairly central characters for these few decades of Thedas's history.
Ah. I didn't know ppl complained. I actually think it makes sense for her to still live. I believe Morrigan even mentions that she couldn't be killed.

I find it funny that Mass Effect has no problems keeping certain characters dead no matter how popular they are and although they pretty much tell the same story with the different character they at least can provide a bit of variation to it. I wonder if the Mass Effect staff should also take over the Dragon Age Project.![]()
But then again the Dragon Age team would take over Mass Effect and they'll just turn it into a world where everyone is immortal and doesn't die.
Even Wrex stayed dead and he's practically everyone's favorite character. He doesn't just show up for ME2 boasting about the healing properties of the Virmire swamps.

Yet again, why do you insist on enslaving the writers? What is wrong with changing one's mind? Also, I doubt they actually planned for her to die (as in a calculated, thought over idea) considering it was one of many possibilities, and not a particularly likely one.Guns wrote...

Leliana didn't even "die" because the Warden chose to kill her. It happened because the Warden chose to defile the Ashes, then she chose to fight him. To kill her or not wasn't even a choice, unless you were metagaming.

BUT, your choices won't really matter! You saved someone? Sorry, he's dead in the sequel. Your protagonist is a warrior? Sorry, he will be treated as a mage. You saved the world? You wish, you're the one who destroyed it.

LOL! Just take over Bioware and give this title to the Dragon age division. Done.

Rofl insisting on someone you kill remaining dead is not enslaving the writers. They can choose another character to fill her role, or they should be able to if they are... you know, writers.
Say I choose to kill someone's son. It's not a choice to kill the father, but if he attacks me and I defend myself, killing him in the process, he is dead. The end.

How do you know you killed her? How can the Warden be sure he/she killed her? Why are you so certain? Maybe you missed my Balak example, but that is pretty much how I stand on this.
Incredibly enough, I'm having fun with this discussion, so thank you for that. I'm a bloody masochist.

The problem isn't them changing their minds, it's the fact that they change their minds all the freaking time. Do they have to do it for even the most insignificant and replaceable characters? Leliana being alive wouldn't even be so bad if she wasn't accompanied by Ohgren, Anders, and Isolde.

Truth be told, I don't even remember who I did or did not decapitate. It's just an animation, and as such, it doesn't affect the story in the slightest.

Please explain to me how Dten being left in a locked cage to die, but still becoming Arushok isbt a retco.? Or how giving the Circle its freedom only to have it not granted, thats a retcon as well.
Isn't Sten the Arishok in Gaider's personal storyline? Much like how Alistair is king of Fereldan? Or did they make that official?
As for the circle, I don't see how that's a retcon when Gaider said that Alistair/Anora did ask about it, but the Chantry basically said no. I don't see how it's a retcon if a choice didn't turn out the way you thought it would.
Uh, Thats not entirly true because if King Alistair delcares the Circle free then he has every right to do so, and does not have to ask permission by the Chantry to do so. Which explains why Knight-Commander Meredith stormed up and hised at him over his decision. The word spread like wild fires and impacted mages who aren't part of his kingdom.

Isolde is either a bug or a major blow up, I'm with you there.
If you kill Ohgren in Origins he shows up in Awakening claiming he woke up naked in the woods and the Warden only thought he killed him.
Anders can die at Vigil's Keep, found with an arrow in the neck or badly burned. Anders will claim he faked his death in DA2.
Now I'm wondering if that murder knife was enough. lol!
