In celebration of the holiday season - I thought it would be interesting to make a thread to list BSN forumites favorite winter levels in gaming, similar in fashion to that of the following Top 5 on Gametrailers.

So, what is your favorite/most memorable winter levels in gaming?


I'll list some of mine I can recall.

Freezeezy Peak - Banjo & Kazooie
Hoth - Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy
Shadow Moses Island - MGS1 (It's basically the setting of the entire game but what the heck)
Cool, Cool Mountain - Super Mario 64
Winter Chapter - The Last of Us
You Better Watch out! - Hitman: Blood Money

Secret of Mana's Ice Country. It's serene and calming. Also, lethal wolf monsters.

Chill Penguin Stage in Megaman X, though that's partly due to my bias for MMX. I always chose it as my first stage, I gain the ability to dash(though it looks more like he's Ice Skating or something), and it's got a solid song to it.

Stillwater in Arcanum. The stillwater giant quest made it worth the trip.

Noveria. That soundtrack.

Ah, Noveria, excellent - I knew I forgot some good ones. That's probably my favorite part of Mass Effect 1 - Corrupt corporations, illegal research, conspiracies floating around and the music, atmosphere.

Noveria, The Simpsons: tapped Out(Only when Christmas is coming, they put snow on your City) and 18 Wheels of Steel American Long Haul(A cool game, where you travel USA to deliver cargo. The photo is from Vancouver, IIRC)

There's Macalania from FFX - one of my all-time favorite tracks

The Ice Cavern from Ocarina of Time

The Ice Field from Drakkhen

And tons more but I'd rather not turn this into another music thread.

Max Payne 1 and the New Jersey chapters from Max Payne 3. Very dark and moody.
