I think it would be a good idea to make possession threaten a Mage PC, as the last few games (DA2 especially) gave players the impression that possession was an insignificant threat.

In order to show the threat, they could use Mage background/class specific side quests, which are likely to be in the game, to allow a possible demon encounter which the player could pass or fail, not only through combat, but dialogue as well (similar to the harrowing in DAO). An example would be, you hear reports of mysterious events happening in a small town related to an ancient relic from Tevinter or Arlathan, and when you investigate, you are pulled into the fade (like in the Blackmarsh) where encounter various npcs, both human and spirit, that help you. After you defeat the evil power holding you in the fade, you find that one of the friendly and helpful npcs is a pride demon that is trying to trick you.

Rogues and Warriors would have similar background/class specific side quests that deal with each classes unique skills, maybe a rogue would have a quest relating to espionage or stealth, and a warrior would have one relating to defeating a dangerous cult or saving a town from blood mages.

Similarly, they could use the class specific quest that unlocks the specializations to display the threat, and have it occur in the main plot between, for example, acts 1 and 2, in order to make sure that you cannot miss it.

In the p&p RPG more complex spells have actually the risk of possession.
