And Wrex. Anything with Wrex is just plain awesome.
I will say, that Mirror-Match fight on the Normandy was a royal pain in the backside, since my current run-through the series is an Infiltrator, my first ever straight-through Infiltrator character. And I'm doing it on the PC, what madness was hitting me at the moment? Still, despite copying powers, he never really copied my style, he definitely was doing things for straight up damage, I make my Infiltrator able to infilitrate, sneak around, and stab something in the back with my omni-blade. Between Wrex and I, whenever we could find him, he had the royal snot beaten out of him.
Pity I can't bring Wrex with me any more.
And then the party? That was a blast, having everyone who's ever been in my Sheppard's party hanging out, and some of those conversations were hilarious. Unfortunate that it had to come to an end, but hey, there's a galaxy to save.
But yes, I really enjoyed it, like the other three major DLC packs for Single Player. From Ashes brought back-story and lore, Leviathan brought more back-story and lore, Omega brought creepiness and 100% badassery, and Citidel brought the whole gang together, which made for such interesting conversations. I'd say it brought closure.
Well done, BioWare. I look forward to the next Mass Effect game now more than I used to.

Galaxy to save? Hmm, my Shep saved the galaxy before partyin' down. Destroyed the Reapers and celebrated with a huge party. EDI was there too.
(Headcanon, it's what's for dinner.)
And spending retirement fighting him/herself in the arena, and reliving the dream of killing reapers on a regular basis. Sponsored in part by Elkoss Combine and Armax Arsenal Arena.

it really needed to happen as an ending
Can't really throw a party until after you destroy the Reapers. The actual resolution to the story is the end of the Reaper threat (according to the Final Hours App). Not really what happens to the rest of the galaxy. A lot of people think it's the other way around. Where the resolution to the story is playing Quasar and partying than ending the Reaper threat.

I guess it's not for me. When I bought it I expected something completely different. So it was a waste of money for me. I'm not a fan who is so in love with the characters - especially not their cheesy side, nor one who cares about the romances in the game. I'm more of the fan of the lore and the grittiness and grimmness of the story and universe. To me the ending is just fine as it is.

Was it too hard to give us THAT as an ending Bioware?
Whatever, citadel DLC is by far what I enjoyed most if Mass Effect 3

I am glad ME3 then turned the series into something you like because Grim and Gritty could not be used to describe ME1&2
But hopefully Bioware will let it die there and return the series to what it was before ME3, at least Citadel seemed to show they CAN do it as long as "the artist" keeps to himself.
On a side note, I would gave paid an extra 10$ to have citadel GLUED after the credits of ME3

A modder actually managed to do that.
Well, not "glue" it to postcredits, but edited the dialogue to make it sound postgame, so you can do Citadel after completing the main game and not have references to the Reapers or Cerberus in the present tense.
Citadel Epilogue Mod, most important mod after MEHEM to me

There's no need to get so offended by one single, personal opinion pal. I did not mean to offend anyone by it. I'm sorry for not having the same taste as you or many others do...
As for the grittiness and grimness of the story. I found ME 1 and 2 quite gritty too, it only gives you the option to play it as a full paragon which takes away some of the edge of the story, but I always found full paragon sensless and boring. It's my personal opinion again.
...And here I don't mean to offend you again, but I'm hoping for a pretty gritty, dirty and dark sci-fi action-rpg (concerning the next ME), only with a bit more intimate and intricate story and with more role-playing.
You can't produce a whole game along the lines of a semi-canonical, tongue-in-cheek, deliberately cheesy fan service dlc, which The Citadel was. It would not work. It is a great dlc, I just do not like it.

I find Paragon boring at times, but I don't necessarily find Renegade to be the gritty counterpart. Sometimes it's just funny. Maybe I'm wrong about that? Am I supposed to be disturbed by getting Biotic God killed. Should I not laugh when Grunt sees dead bodies and says "Anybody hungry?"

I was talking about full paragon. Sometimes it's the reneaged options which gives you humorous moments. Ususally I play a balanced playthrough. Full renegade and paragon do not make too much sense to me.
I'm not going to write the whole list of things which make the first two installments gritty for me, but they are obviously not the light hearted sort of sci-fi-action adventure, if you think about it. I myself did not find the first two less dark than the 3rd installment.
To me the atmosphere and direction the story took were just fine in the 3rd installment, including the ending. My real problem with the 3rd game was the lesser dialogue options and the lack of consequences of major decisions from the previous games. I won't mention the plot inconsistencies, hiatuses since they were present in the first two installments too.

It's always been "gritty" when it comes to the more orderly Renegades -- Miranda, TIM, Aria, Javik. They all come off a bit cold and full of ruthless efficiency. Grunt and Jack are Renegade but more chaotic neutral, with some touches of evil. Mordin and Wrex somewhat more tame, but in the same territory. They're all funnier characters than the ones above.

it is my firm belief that Citadel was so popular specifically because ME3 was too dark, gritty and generally unpleasant to people. Like a glass of cold milk after biting into something far too spicy. it may not be what you'd normally go for, but at that particular moment, there are few things you desire more.
