Seriously the start menu screen thing is horrible and that bar at the side keeps constantly opening up while im trying to do things. I really hope there is a way to fix these problems.

Have you updated to 8.1? That apparently makes some changes to the start menu.

Not sure how well they work, mind you. The whole interface is pretty shoddy.

It's brand new so no I will update it now. I'm sure it can't fix that much but anythings possible.

I'm about to throw my Venue 11 Pro out of the window because of it.

You could take it to a computer shop and ask them to backgrade to Windows 7? I haven't had to do this myself, but when I took my Macbook in for a repair, the guy said virtually all the Windows 8 machines they sell get brought back for this reason.

I haven't had too many issues with my Surface Pro 2, it runs 8.1 I believe. I just use it for EHR and gaming though.

I may have to do that if it becomes to much of an annoyance. Im just hoping there is other ways to fix its problems.

Go back to windows Vista for 30 minutes and windows 8 will seem less terrible by comparison.

Wow, seriously? I have not used Windows 8, I just figured it couldnt get much worse then Vista:blink:

Vista at least still uses the classic Windows UI. Windows 8's UI, on the other hand, is the epitome of bad design. And it's unstable on top of that.

It's not that bad.

Windows 8.1 lets you bypass the start screen and go straight to the desktop. You can also easily install a third party application to bring the start menu back.

Buy a copy of Windows 7 or wait until the next Windows version (which will be good, but the one after that version will suck, and so on and so forth until the end of time).

It takes some getting used to, but downloading the start menu essentially removes 90% of the inherent annoyance of Windows 8.
